Mary of course refuses the diving gear. It's completely useless; she can survive perfectly well underwater.
She didn't take the merdemoness form during the rescue; she didn't really have time, but now she does, swimming with a graceful ease and has to hold back or double back to not speed ahead of Aiai. She jabs her pole into the seabed at uneven intervals. Aiai's apology rings hollow in her ears, but she understands the need to be diplomatic. A little. "Thanks, I guess."

"You coulda grabbed her anyway. She wouldn't be able to tell anyone in Hell. Or if her Majesty vaporized her."
Speaking of Sekhmet, the demon queen seems out cold. "We should take her somewhere more comfortable," Pyrite suggests, picking her ruler up and hoisting her over her shoulder.

"Eh, what's done is done." Hiep shrugs. And she'd really rather Sekhmet didn't have to vaporize anyone. "But we should, yes. Somewhere she can come to in peace."

"We rented a cabin," Pyrite suggests. It could work, but would Sekhmet freak out when waking up in an unfamiliar place? Unfortunately they can't ask her.

"Okay, he's gone." CB chooses to omit what X-1 said to Kyrie. At least the last part.
"Um. He said that bracer would shield you from the sun. Consider it an apology for the trouble. But I won't blame you if you don't really want to test it."
Codebreaker looks around a bit then with a sigh pulls his shirt open.
"So for the record I really do appreciate the openness to it all, but given that I did say your patron could zap me with the permanence shield once I got un-shrunk I need to ask your honest opinion on the purpliness and the giant tail and the horns before Absum decides to do anything. Well, and the whole sudden-lack-of-volume but if you think it'd be better I think half a year on Owena's cooking can fix that."
Kyrie had stopped her from feeding Codebreaker so many pancakes but maybe rescinding that can get him back to how he used to look.
CB glances at the window, as if expecting to find that Absum was already charging something to make his new hue a universal constant.
"...It is a definite change of pace." Kyrie agrees after a moment, running a hand through Codebreaker's neck-fur as though attempting to glean whether the texture's significantly changed. "I will admit I had not expected to see you like this today when I woke up this evening. If you want my honest opinion... I'm afraid I simply do not have one. Not yet." He reaches up and idly tugs at the horns. "...Let us try again in an hour. Maybe by then I will be missing your old body terribly. Or I will have come to appreciate the new one."

"...You do not sound very convinced."
Aiai doesn't look up from her task as she says it, waist-deep in the water and trolling her pole methodically across the seabed in front of her. "Were we still fitted to the rest of ourselves, we might resent the implication that you think we are being dishonest." She continues, slowly pushing up the beach. "But we do not take offense as we are. Instead, we are compelled to ask... why? Have we ever been any less than completely sincere, in our dealings with you?"

"Well, like I said. If you miss my old self too much, I can make a good approximation with a year's worth of cake." Codebreaker assures Kyrie with a wink.
b orbits cheerily around his head.
"But um, what do we do now? Do you want me to like, make breakfast-dinner?" For some reason thinking about food makes him think of crystals. It's probably nothing.
Codebreaker considers it a victory that he's gotten Kyrie to eat food sometimes, even if he gets very little nutrition out of it.

Mary frowns at the question and pauses in her work to float in place as she answers the question with another question, "In all your dealings with me, have you ever been friendly, complimentary, helpful, or even pleasant?" She has a point. Sure, Aiko was always honest, but she was honest in her hatred.

"...Well." Kyrie glances at the bowl of cereal on the counter. "That was the plan. Almost." He gives a small, rueful chuckle. "I certainly would not object if you decided to assist."
His pride definitely wasn't going to allow him to switch off the task entirely. And at this point, he was too invested to simply walk away without learning where the eggs are kept.
[Blushing Beach]
"...They have been few and far between, but yes, we have shown you warmth in the past." Aiai replies after a moment. "There was the incident when you saw fit to enter our dream, for one. While that was a time marked with a number of hostile acts on both our parts, and a few misunderstandings between ourselves and your mother, we were still fully prepared to defend your soul against the onslaught of the Witch living in your head, both with the aid of magic in our dream and without when we awoke."
Probably the weakest example, given it was her fault the Witch had gotten loose in the first place, though it was through means she couldn't be expected to know about beforehand.
"Then there was detention. We went so far as to form a truce that day." Aiai continues. "We seem to recall offering a kiss. That was not merely a turn of phrase; we were exceedingly grateful for access to The Compleat Guide to the Daemons and Creatures of the Nether Worldes, and wished to express that gratitude in a way you would find palatable."
"And a few other bits here and there. Though our relationship has been sour for long enough that it seems the only compliments you are willing to accept from us are backhanded in nature." Aiai frowns as her pole skids along a break in the seafloor, checking it again to make sure it's just an out-of-place rock. "...Which is hardly your fault, but aggrieves us all the same."

"Well, I'm sure I can work something out. I-" Codebreaker's train of thought is interrupted as he reaches for the cabinet and the knob snaps right off in his hand. Frowning, he goes to pick up the box of cereal- and neatly crushes the top with barely a touch.
"...Kyrie I think I have super strength." mumbles the miniature giant monster. Kyrie may have some experience on that front.

"...Hm. I suppose that means we will not be participating in that raid today." Kyrie muses, opening the cabinet himself. "This... will take some time to adjust."
The wolf-knight gives Codebreaker a little pat on the back of his neck. "...Fundamentally, you are experiencing a sensory problem." He explains. "You are used to navigating through touch with things resisting you. You will need to learn to reckon without that feedback. It is like learning to navigate the house blindfolded."

"Um. Okay." Codebreaker turns to Kyrie, actually remembering that Kyrie has probably had similar issues. The strigoi are all much stronger than they look. And sometimes CB remembers that on the night they first met Kyrie manifested an energy blade in his hands and he's just never had to use it since. It makes him feel better, honestly.
"Kyrie...how strong are you really? I don't think I've ever really seen you cut loose as much as you can. Well except the one time but you were cheating with a sword."

"And with any luck, you never will." Kyrie replies with a shoulder clap. "That kind of power is for emergencies only. Anything else requires a more delicate touch." He unhooks the top of the cereal box and sets about the process of un-crushing it. "...And not entirely analogous anyway. What strength I have comes from will, not... wherever yours is coming from."

It's true, Kyrie's magic comes from himself and not a moment of absorbing all potential magical energy from the environment, the cosmos, and the dreams of children. And from radiation.
"So um. That means you never really had this problem, huh?" CB tries experimentally to poke at an orange at the table without driving his claw through it or sending it flying, which is a little harder than it sounds.

Codebreaker blinks.
"You have a sister? You don't talk about your family much."
He winces. There's a good chance there's a reason for that given the tragedy of Maesda.
"Well, still. If there's anyone to help me with the discipline I'll need for this, it's you." And he means that sincerely!

"...At this point, it may be more appropriate to say I had one." Kyrie replies evenly. "Aria of Redmont. Sweet girl. Beautiful singing voice." He gives a fond little smile before mentally returning to the task at hand. "We will start with items less delicate and see about going from there." He begins. "...Or rather, we will start with me being your hands, until such a time as you can use them yourself without breaking anything."
More of the same since he was shrunk, really.

"But uh. How am I going to eat breakfast-dinner if I can't even hold a spoon without crushing it?" he asks, before his eyes go wide.
"Don't you dare say it."

"W-well, if I can't help with the cooking you're going to have to either call someone or do it yourself. And if you do it yourself I think that means we're either having fried eggs and sausages, or you're getting your first big cooking lesson."
Of course with the two of them the way they are now, cooking the eggs and sausages is pretty optional, health-wise.
But also, Kyrie is currently being treated to one of Codebreaker's brain-static episodes where he's thinking something so loud it is easily heard by just about everyone in the room. In this case, the very loud thought of spending the next week having to be fed by Kyrie because he can't stop crushing his own bowls and silverware. And generally being completely unable to tell if it's wholesome or mortifying.

If the brain-static is getting to him, he doesn't show it.

Mary looks at Aiko skeptically. "Really? Because I only saw you looking out for your own skin. Did you even know what my soul gem was, or did you just grab it because it looked important?" she questions. There's a lot more she isn't saying, like how she's never forgiven Aiko for telling her off over being distraught over her mother's apparent death, and it's unlikely she ever will. If any one incident cemented Aiko as a heartless bitch in Mary's mind, that was it.
But the second example.
"Yeah. We had a truce. And the moment we got back to school the next semester, you broke it by spreading rumors, just because you were jealous of how I'd grown!" Of course Sapphira undoubtedly made things worse through her response, but if Mary wants to keep her possession secret, she has to accept responsibility for Sapphira's actions.

"We will not pretend we knew right away that we were retrieving your soul gem." Aiai replies, stopping and skidding her pole along the seabed again. "We were, at first, only denying the Witch its prize, as would be strategically wise in such a situation. Once we knew it was you we were holding, we decided we would not permit any harm to come to you, if it could be helped. We may not have been friends but we were not that bitter of enemies, and unless you one day make the mistake of actively threatening the lives of any of my other friends or family, it is unlikely we ever will be."
"...As for the second." Aiai stops where she stands, leaning against the pole. "...In our more paranoid moments, we wondered if you had engineered that situation." She frowns, twisting the pole in her hands. "One off-color comment is a silly pretense for declaring a truce broken, which gave us the impression you had been waiting for an opportunity to break it without appearing to be at fault. The contents of the comment itself were sourced from the book you leant to us. And that your immediate rebuttal was to comment on the size of our venom sacs, with the implication of inadequacy, did not exactly help dissuade that interpretation."
Aiai lets out a little sigh. "...Then our brain comes back to us, and we remember how few of those variables were in your control, and how many were in ours." She says, shaking her head. "If you did somehow manipulate us, it is still our fault for falling for it, when we had so many other options. And we aren't convinced you did. We were envious. Not of your body- we have more than enough confidence in our own- but of the attention. It seemed bitterly unfair, that you could simply grow up over the summer and it would outweigh our merits, hard-fought and earned through many a restless night, in the eyes of our peers."
"...We lashed out. It was inappropriate of us, ill-becoming of a PREP student, much less an empress. We regret our actions on that day immensely. And we apologize."

"Top shelf." Codebreaker mumbles.
Very gingerly he reaches out to lay his hands on Kyrie's shoulders.
"Thanks, Kyrie. You guys always say all this stuff about knights and lords and me...but I want to know that sometimes you really do have the patience of a saint."
The miniature kaiju's stomach rumbles mightily.
"And I think we need a triple portion tonight."

Re: Seaside

Mary nods. "I wouldn't want you to be killed either," she agrees.
Her tail swishes through the water as she moves to the next spot to check.
Then Aiai brings up her theory and Mary smiles awkwardly and does her best not to draw attention to it. It's not far off from the truth. Of course "Mary" at that point was Sapphira, but again, if Mary isn't going to tell people about that, she has to accept responsibility.
The "venom sacs" comment causes the succubus princess to raise an eyebrow and examine them a bit more closely. She's genuinely not sure if that's a euphemism or if Aiko has more inhuman traits than just the green skin and six-fingered hands. That doesn't last very long before Mary's attention turns to her own pair. "Just because the book says it and it's true doesn't mean it doesn't hurt. They're... Kind of a sensitive topic." Despite what it looks like sometimes, succuboobs are not universally advantageous.
But most importantly, that apology felt real. "It's okay. We both did things we regret." Mary isn't really talking about that incident (although it's part of it). Even though she wasn't in control of herself, she still remembers everything Sapphira did through her, and regrets all of it. Maybe Aiai will notice the deeper sadness in the merdemoness' voice (or maybe not, she's not the emotional part of Aiko, after all).
The parenthetical voice is entirely correct. Aiai doesn't see how badly Mary is upset by the topic, partly because she isn't especially emotionally sensitive, and partly because the bobbing and swaying and churning of the ocean water they're both occupying makes it just a little difficult to read facial expressions.
Which might handily explain her follow-up.
"...We would have elaboration." Aiai says after a moment of silence. "We are not so close to you that we can simply guess what acts you might have taken that you regret."

Blushing Voice
That question is enough to make Mary raise her guard again. "I don't want to talk about it," she says, not meeting Aiai's eyes.
The merdemoness then slips beneath the water to poke her pole into a deeper crevice.

Aiai raises an eyebrow as Mary goes under, saying nothing else as she pulls her rebreather up and goggles down. Even if she wanted to speak with Mary more on this matter, she can hardly do that with as kitted out as she is.
Back to work. And if Mary decides she wants to confess something later, so be it.

Hiep sinks onto a comfy armchair with a sigh. In any other circumstances, she'd be happy to be in a nice place like this with a hot woman. But her heart isn't in it right now.
"We've got time to kill, then. Any ideas?"

"We could..." Pyrite starts to suggest, "...But I think she'd freak out if she woke up to us..." That would be awkward, and there really isn't anywhere to hide in the tiny cabin. "Maybe we should just sit tight until she's awake?"

That's more or less what went through Hiep's head too. While she wouldn't say no to another curtain with Pyrite, it invites enough trouble for her to think better of it.
"I can tell you some stories to pass the time. Like that one time I had to make sure a noblewoman arrives somewhere safely but runs into just enough danger on the road to spur her into what destiny needed of her."
