Keep in mind that a character's presence in this thread doesn't necessarily mean I play them often, but it does mean I will consider playing them again. I'll try to mark retired characters, but feel free to ask.

Kothar
Lizardfolk paladin, single father, philosopher

Some are born to greatness. Some aspire to greatness. Some have greatness thrust upon them.
Kothar is none of those people. While few of those in his homeland would deny that he is a great hero whose actions had a massive impact beyond himself, greatness was never his goal.
Once, he was a hunter for a village in a swamp. He lived a happy enough life, married one of the other hunters, and hatched a child with her. Then disaster struck. The village was raided by trolls under the command of a monster named Gragrool, an ogre mage. His wife was killed in the fighting, his infant son barely out of eggshells was in danger, and he would do anything, anything, to protect what he had left. With spear in hand, he had his first brush with greatness that day. He was left for dead, Gragrool had fled with one eye blind. But the mother goddess of the lizardfolk, Tlacua, had heard the oath he swore in his heart to protect his family and the others in danger and accepted him as her champion. By her providence, he lived and grew strong again.
And seven years later, he had his second taste of greatness when he met two other nascent adventurers.

Arboreas was a wood elf from the woodland to the south, a sneaky sort who was adept in dealing death from the shadows.
Euclid was a half-elven sorcerer from the city of Desarke, two days to the west, with only mediocre powers but big ambitions, especially where gold was concerned.
The three of them met in the village of Elyorac, not far from Kothar's home, where the town needed someone to recover goods stolen by bandits lurking in the caves of a nearby mountain.

The mountain, it turns out, contained more than just some bandits and a cave, but an ancient fortress holding a terrible entity captive beneath it. Vox Vorago, the Voice of the Endless Abyss, an otherworldly tyrant of great power, was close to escaping the bonds that had held it for over 500 years.
In a year-long series of expeditions, the Three, as they would come to be called, descended to the depths of the fortress and slew the creature before it could emerge to begin its reign over the land anew. In the process, they became fabulously wealthy, in no small part because of Euclid's financial maneuvering.
Euclid and Arboreas left to found a grand theater, one of Euclid's many business ventures.
The fortress under Mount Vokthiss was turned over to the allies the Three had made during their quest: the upper sections to a silver dragon and his kobold attendants, and the lower caverns to a colony of myconids.
Kothar returned to his home and his son Achuak.
And after a few years, they both left on a hunt one day and never returned. An anticlimactic ending to a heroic tale.

Or that's how the story goes.

► Appearance

Kothar resembles a humanoid iguana, with dark green scales and an orange crest. He tends to wear simple handmade clothing of wool and leather. He carries an axe of black steel with golden inlay in the shape of flames, and a silver shield with a platinum crest of a lightning bolt. Around his neck he wears an amulet in the shape of a small wreath of braided feathers, this is the symbol of his goddess.

► Abilities

As the champion of Tlacua, Kothar wields divine mercy to heal and protect but also divine wrath to harm and control. His attacks glow with holy fire and he radiates an aura that protects his allies from mind-altering magic. He also is an adept hunter, skilled in stealth and tracking, and a trained warrior specializing in using his shield to protect himself and those around him. His broken speech in human tongues obscures the eloquence and inspiring leadership he wields in his own tongue, the tongue of dragons.

► Equipment

Kothar's axe, his weapon of choice, is imbued with the fires of a volcano, blazing with arcane flame on command in addition to the holy flame he wields with his own power. It is far, however, from the only magical piece of gear on his person. His shield carries a greater enchantment yet - within it is bound an eldritch entity which hungers for magic, a lesser servant of Vox Vorago whose powers drain magic from anything they touch, including spells aimed to destroy the shield's bearer. His belt too bears an enchantment enhancing his strength to rival that of one of the Frost Giants of the distant northern wastes, allowing him to throw boulders and enemy combatants with ease. Lastly, a pair of goggles with emerald lenses grant him the power to see in the dark, on the rare occasion he does not simply use his flaming axe as a torch.

Jade and Jason Fisher
Superheroic twins

Jason Fisher was an electrical engineer with a big inspiration. Skilled with all forms of manipulating light, he built a holographic projector and made a fortune. He used that fortune to build a power suit and fight crime.

Through a timeline-shredding mishap, he wound up in the Nexus, and many things happened.
Somewhere along the way, through fae magic, he acquired a twin sister Jade, a female copy of himself who happens to be a magical nine-tailed fox. Or maybe he's a copy of her? It's not exactly clear. The two of them live together in a secret warehouse lair and fight crime together under the identities of Hoplite and Athena.

► Jason

Jason is a man of fair skin, brown hair, middling build, and an age questionably in his mid 20s. His armor is turquoise blue and modeled after an ancient Greek hoplite. He uses the suit to project barriers and equipment out of hardlight, mostly shields to defend himself.

► Jade

Jade is a woman with red hair and what could be described as a "superheroic" figure. She has foxlike ears and a set of nine fox tails. Her armor is similar to Jason's, but adjusted to her different anatomy, and has many of the same powers. In addition, she can transform into a fox and conjure fire, although she is not especially good at magic. If she is immersed in water, she is forced into the shape of a mundane fox and robbed of her powers, including the ability to speak in fox shape, until she dries off.

Sekhmet
Queen of the Scorching Depths, Fated One, etcetera etcetera

► Full Title

Sakiril-Ess, Toktr Etsa Korrel, Etsa Myn-Erl, Nolvilik Kendek, Resyr Lotaka, Okaril-Ess, Keyra Dogetal, Etsa Sukkubei, Rel Ysm, Strel Hof, Lumsa Okarr
(Fated One, Daughter of the Queen of Poison, Queen of the Scorching Depths, Unwilling Convert, Fiery Protector, Rebellious One, Lady of Forgiveness, Queen of Succubi, True Beauty, Hopeful Star, Beacon of Freedom)

She was a normal girl, more or less, but accidentally winding up in the Nexus, her demonic heritage came to light. Her mother was searching for her.
And in the end, did not manage to get her claws on Sekhmet. Queen Sapphira's reign ended in her death at the hands of the heroes of the Nexus, and Sekhmet ascended the throne.

Heir to immense magical power, a hellish domain, and a treacherous court of succubi and incubi, Sekhmet is out of her depth. She just wants to live with her husband, adopted daughter, and infant son, but her duties leave her no choice. A hell with a ruler, especially a just ruler, is far better than one without.

► Appearance

Variable, due to her shapeshifting powers. She usually appears as a succubus-like demon with six horns (two large horns on her forehead and two smaller ones on each temple), red skin and pitch-black eyes, metallic black hair, batlike wings, and a long barbed tail. Unlike her minions, she has a very modest fashion sense, preferring long, covering dresses (although usually with a halterneck and open back to accommodate her wings).

► Abilities

Many. She can shapeshift, changing her appearance to any creature she can visualize in her mind's eye or altering herself in more controlled ways. Additionally, she can create and control fire and heat, but uses this power primarily for simple household tasks. She also has telepathic abilities to read minds, transmit thoughts, manipulate emotions, and enter dreams, among other things.
Within the bounds of her kingdom, she has nigh-omnipotent power, but outside she is considerably more limited.

The various courtiers of the Scorching Depths

There are many succubi, incubi, and other demons within Sekhmet's domain. Here are a few that have made themselves notable in one way or another.

► Charcoal

Half succubus, half fire nymph. Charcoal has been following Sekhmet since before she was crowned queen and is among the few demons that Sekhmet truly trusts. As a result, she is assigned a wide variety of duties relating to public outreach, from guiding travelers lost in the Depths to dealing with cultists and wizards.
She has coal-black skin and flaming hair.
She speaks in dark orange

► Gloom

Gloom is the de facto head of the demonic orchestra. She plays the cello. She is also an adept illusionist, capable of creating illusions that can fool even the enhanced senses of the demonic guards. She desperately wants to escape the depths and begin a new musical career in the mortal world.
She has pallid blue-purple skin and purple hair.
She speaks in indigo

► Seam

Seam is the royal armorer and tailor and an adept enchanter. She is responsible for creating the enchanted clothing worn by the denizens of the Depths. She's not above selling her services as a seamstress to mortals who summon her (although that's not why one would normally summon a succubus). Her pragmatic views cause her to frequently butt heads with her idealistic queen, but her skills are too invaluable for Sekhmet to get rid of her.
She has red skin and black hair - it's what was stylish when Sapphira was in power.
She speaks in purple

Mary
Semi-adopted demon princess

Mary lived, all fourteen years of her life, in the slums of Inside. Surrounded by despondency, she made a pact with an otherworldly cat-fox-thing.
She gained the power to make her surroundings a better place, in exchange for fighting monsters.
But there must always be a Slums in Inside, and she was betrayed. Overcome by the futility of her actions, she became one of the very monsters she was tasked with destroying, the secret plan of the being who had granted her wish. She was vanquished by another who had made the same pact, and her soul gem captured.
And then a miracle happened. Somehow, she was brought to Sekhmet, the Queen of the Scorching Depths. The compassionate demon queen brought her back to her senses, but her body had been destroyed. Using ancient arcane machinery in her kingdom, Sekhmet made a new body for Mary, half demon and half mortal, and adopted the resulting tiefling as her daughter.
An incident with a magical disease caused Mary to be transformed into a dragon, along with one of her friends. After the ensuing adventure, Mary has started to occasionally spend time in dragon shape, especially around her transformed friend who has no way to change back into a human himself. She doesn't really think of herself as a dragon, but she likes being one sometimes anyway.

► appearance

One would be forgiven for believing that Mary is Sekhmet's biological daughter (because while Mary was not originally Sekhmet's child, her new body was grown from Sekhmet's essence). She has red skin and black hair, as well as a pair of horns and a spade-tipped tail.
Mary was transformed into a dragon. In this form, she's a horse-sized winged quadrupedal lizard, an elegant dragon with jet-black scales that glow like magma when she's enraged, and fiery eyes. Her humanoid form has adjusted as well as a result - she keeps her dragon eyes, wings, tail, and feet even when she changes back into a tiefling.

► abilities

Mary is untested. As the heiress to the Scorching Depths, she should have immense fiendish power second only to her mother, but she has not learned to harness it yet.
The dragon incident unlocked her latent ability of shapeshifting, which she primarily uses to change back and forth from tiefling to dragon. It also has allowed her to breathe fire in all her forms.

Selekhael

The Mighty Forgive (abundantly)

In order to talk about Selekhael, I have to talk about an out-of-character mistake.
A long time ago, there was a plot called Marlick Bay, which Sekhmet participated in. She was collecting mysterious artifacts that, out of character, I knew would lead to her being transformed into an angelic being. That plot stalled for about 6 months.
I assumed it was dead, and did some other stuff with Sekhmet, which led to me establishing her as the princess of the Scorching Depths.
Then Marlick Bay picked up again. I had a dilemma: did I drop the angelic artifact plotline or do some sort of retcon? I took a secret third option, and then there were two Sekhmets running around. The angelic one became known as Selekhael, her angelic name, and then later as "Sele."

She got adopted by Zee, the bartender at Trog's Tavern, and got a cosmetic change to look like one of Zee's biological children. She works most days at Trog's and hunts demons sometimes (but not the type of demon Sekhmet is. Something else).

► Appearance

Sele resembles a half-drow girl about 18 years old. Bluish-grey skin, black hair with a white streak in it, pointed ears. She dresses modestly. But really, she's a colossal being, a combination lioness, tawny eagle, fan coral, and ring the size of a house and radiating holy light. She keeps that hidden, most of the time.

► Abilities and Equipment

Sele commands the Spheres of Time, Entropy, Growth, and Id. Functionally, this allows her to travel through and alter the flow of time, cause things to age or de-age, grow, heal, and shrink things, and manipulate emotions. She wields a weapon called the Time Limiter, a sort of shotgun that shreds its victims through time, as well as an entropic pistol and a flaming khopesh of dark alien metal.
In her unbound form, she radiates holy light which infects and slowly transforms anything nearby her, causing it to reflect her nature.

Assorted Supervillains

Because what heroes are complete without villains?

These villains have appeared, primarily, to trouble Jade and Jason Fisher, but sometimes show up elsewhere.

► Legion

Legion is a scientist who developed a novel immortality treatment - he fed his personality into a swarm of nanomachines, turning himself into a thoroughly insane blob of metal-eating, self-reproducing goo. He wants to expand his capabilities by consuming new technologies, especially those used by heroic figures across the Nexus. Even completely destroying him (fire is most effective at that) will not be enough, he has many backups of himself in place to ensure that he survives.

► Eidolon

The Eidolon is a sapient distortion in reality that battled an alternate universe's versions of Jade and Jason, along with other heroes of their worlds. Appearing as a lurid purple stain on the fabric of reality, it fights using energy blasts and its many deadly clawed tendrils, but it can also fly and pass through walls. It absorbs attacks used against it and adapts to be more attuned to their energies.
