Trog's Tavern: Roman Numerals Are Dumb
Re: Trog's Tavern: Roman Numerals Are Dumb
"Name? It's Codebreaker, didn't I-" The wolfen stops to play back the conversation in his head.
"Huh. I guess I didn't say it earlier." There's nothing particularly noteworthy about that, he just could swear he already introduced himself.
"And eh, it's fairly normal. You get used to it eventually."

Re: Trog's Tavern: Roman Numerals Are Dumb
Lenny taps a nail against his teeth, then shrugs at Sylas. "That's not not of interest. I have an animal connection too, even though it's a very unwanted one. So what's your creature?" He thinks for a moment. "I'm gonna guess something like a rhino, since you're so heavy."
He raises an eyebrow at Codebreaker, considering whether or not to comment on the strangeness of the name. Probably a descriptive nickname, he decides. Well, if Lenny runs into any ciphers, he knows who he'll hit up.
"Well, you know what they say," he remarks to Alice, "You must be just as mad as us, or you wouldn't have come here." He starts to do his best overly wide grin before breaking into a chuckle. "Sorry, couldn't help it. Read that shit to Emily when we were younger, never made any sense to me."

Sylas looks at the biker with a bit of confusion.
"I thought Alice was a girls name and this is theNexus." he says to him pointing at the flyer. "It's on this paper."
Obviously he didn't knows about the wonderland story.
Then he just nods to Codebreaker befor he turns to Lenny.
"Hmm yeah can't really understand that, we all got our connection at birth. I don't know if there are any without a connection in my world." He then tilts his head slightly with a "what?"
He needs a moment until he realizes what Lenny means. "Ahhhhh, nononono. A rhino would be a fighter. I'm a mage, but I can't make out what it is. My mentors said it's a new one, it seems to happen every generation and they need to wait for a full connection. My weight on the other side is due my magic. I use to increase my gravity to train my body, I show you."
He takes two beer mats and points them to the ground. Then he drops one which just jumps away like normal. Then some small scale grow under Sylas eyes as he drops the secon one. This one breaks into the ground like a thrown dagger.
"The second one got a lot more gravity then i have on myself, just to show it."

Venus laughs, then shakes her head, pushes her hair back with her hands. Mistaking her for a goddess is funny as a joke, sure, but, "Yeah, but I don't really see how. How many random people do you see, walking down the street, that make you just want to start worshipping them? Not many, I assume."[brackets lover] wrote: ↑Dec 06, 2023 9:11 pm Mogzoku tilts his head curiously as Venus continues on, listening closely to her every word. "That really does sound like a very confusing situation. Though, I can see how they can make that mistake, kupo," he says cheekily, winking at her.
"Just because I live in a church," she says, "that just happens to have a goddess decades ago, who just happens to share...my..."
Venus sighs.
Then facepalms.
"...name. Oh, gosh, I can see it now too. Jeez, what a coincidence. Just because I have the same name and moved into the same place, they think I'm the second coming of their long-lost goddess."
Venus groans. "Why didn't I notice this before?"
The nature lady puts her head down on the counter. "Now the question is, how do I let them know they've mixed me up with someone else without hurting their feelings?" she says, her voice a little muffled by the counter."[/color]

That kind of thing. Young girl with an eye for technology.... That's a masked supervillain in Skyside who's young and uses technology, her civilian identity might be who you're looking for, but I don't know anything else about iWear than that." And iWear probably isn't the person the cyber group is looking for, besides.
The man shows a heigth when telling the size. They do mean Mia, but from what he knows iWear might be their target.
"Is there any way to meet this iWare person?"

Alice notices Sylas's confusion and laughs. "I am a girl", they say, "just not very girly. So you're excused for not noticing."

Lenny frowns. "Alice isn't always a girl name anyway. I know this really cool person named Alice who's not any gender in particular. Good writer too." They stare into nothing for a moment before coughing and turning their attention to Sylas' gravity demonstration.
"Hey, that's a pretty neat trick. Pretty dangerous, maybe." They scratch an ear thoughtfully. "So can you like, flatten people? Or at least make stuff they're holding too heavy to disarm them?"

Codebreaker shrugs.
"Never read it either. Mostly know it from cultural osmosis. I've gotten the idea it's pretty weird by most people's standards but what do I know, I'm the wolfman dating a vampire with a spirit orbiting my head." His life is weird enough that he's not sure anything in the book could really be that weird.

"Go to Skyside and hope, I guess? It's a name I've heard, I haven't met or seen them. Skyside's dangerous, lots of technology there and nobody really saying what it should be used for. She's a villain who goes finds heroes or others to fight and uses tech. She's usually flying around and I think she's got lasers. She tried robbing a casino not that long ago, after some metal they had in their vaults I think. Cloudshark Casino? Sounds right." So perhaps going to Skyside and finding the Cloudshark Casino would provide more clues, or perhaps it'll provide an opportunity to meet her if it's still got whatever material she was after.

"Okay." He just says to the biker.

Lenny nods, impressed. Gravity magic seems quite strong, and it's not something she's come across before. "Well, count yourself lucky you've never had to try those particular tricks." Maybe it says something about Lenny that her first idea of how to use gravity control is to attack others. But that's a little too philosophical for the moment.
"Yeahhh... I don't control mine so good. If I turn fully into a wolf I'm good, if I'm a human I'm pretty good, but being anywhere between makes me go a little crazy." She grimaces, sharp teeth flashing for a moment. "Unfortunately, that's becoming a lot harder to avoid these days."

Sylas is excused, the biker was narrated in deliberately ambiguous manner.
Having finished putting up the improvised "Wanted" posters, Alice looks like they're about to leave. "Well, it was nice chatting with you. It would be fun to stick around and talk about, uh, parlor tricks", these discussions about magic and hostile transformations are clearly out of their depth, "but I have other places to check. If something - or someone - turns up, you know who to call. Cheers!"

The man looks at the map and then moves it back to it's owner. He sure has safed it up with his eye and it's common in their world to leave this by the owner.

"Honestly don't know what it was. Monstrous, I reckon, rather than well-armed. Something was playing with our heads the moment we went inside. Stlubo walked into a spiked pit. It wasn't even hidden, he just... didn't see it, somehow. Ser Daeron charged down a corridor yelling about dragons, but we found him later. His head had been cracked open. I don't... I don't know what happened to Edmund. I thought he was next to me, until... until I left, and then I couldn't remember the last time I'd seen him." "Yeah, it's a lose-lose no matter what I do," Venus says, thinking she's agreeing with what Mogzoku meant, when in just told her there's little point in stressing about it.
She bites her lip, and looks down, her mind racing. "Ugh, I really wish June were here, she'd think of a way to solve this..."
Venus takes a deep breath, and has a ridiculous solution: "Oh! Idea: what if I pretend that I get kidnapped and forced to be the concubine of some other goddess or a random demon queen? In stories, they like doing that sort of stuff all the time, right? Then all of my followers would have no choice but to worship her instead!"
An important question she's forgetting is: how does one find a demon lord or a god who's willing to participate in this? Just put it out there on the Classifieds or something?
Venus asks Mogzoku a serious question: "Would you happen to know any I could ask?"

Codebreaker scribbles on a napkin, sliding it over to Lenny.

On the napkin is a surprisingly decent drawing of a hairy man with a wide smile. ATREYU (NOT THE LLAMA) is written on it.

Only problem is that unlike most werewolves, my transformation isn't on a monthly cycle, so it's hard to predict." "Yeha maybe it's that. But if you didn't know anything why did you go there?" the man asks as he realizes how strange the keldon sounds.Earl of Purple wrote: ↑Jan 14, 2024 12:42 pm Cybergroup
"I'm sorry I can't provide better help. Maybe your tech will help, if it goes into your brains, y'know? Or filters the air, if it's breathed in. I can't help more, though. I am not going back." The keldon thought it was more likely hallucinations than illusions, since everyone saw something different.
"Who did you gather the information from since it sounds like he has missed some important informations."

"We knew something. Something in that dungeon had been stealing banthas from the farm nearby. We were expecting bandits, something we could kill with swords. We got our info from a farm labourer sent to fetch help, he led us back to the farm he worked. Farmer was gone, all the other labourers too. So he took what he could carry and left with the last of the banthas. They're big shaggy things, like a colos but not as aggressive." Colos being the giant goat creatures that Keldons ride into battle.

Mogzoku's eyes widen as Venus relays her plan to him. He still looks a bit baffled as he's addressed, snapping to attention and weakly answering, "Uhh... Come again, kupo?"

The man looks more confused then befor. it's hard to tell if he makes the story up or not, since the details of the story appear rather strange to him. Sadly the man has no idea what banthas are or a colos. He doesn't even know anything about Keldons . Their world wasn't visitid by other people and if they didn't had a good time.
"That does sound like there is something else behind it." he says. Even if there is something mind manipulating the people who live there wouldn't just disapear. Something new must have appeared.
"We do need to be carefull then i guess. anything else?"

Lenny glances at the boy, raising an eyebrow. "I don't think you're gonna find anything you want with me. I sleep in ditches and eat raw mice and rabbits. It's not that I don't trust you, it's that my life is just... really not fun." It's not like she couldn't find a way to improve her quality of life, it's just hard to hold down a job or a house if you tend to berserk on the regular.Zefir wrote: ↑Jan 16, 2024 12:42 pm Right now Sylas has not really much on his Agenda. it's like he got issekaied. "I'm not gonna stop you if you want to follow me, but I think you'll be a lot happier if you stay here in the warmth. Plenty of better people to befriend who won't be hazardous to your health." She shrugs and heads out the door, not bothering to look back.

Sylas won't follow. Lenny's explaation sounds reliable. If he does have this kind of Lifestyle Sylas would only be a burden and on top it might harm him too. Not that he has a problem with the temperature.
"You are right. If you need help just come and ask." he says as he looks after Lenny as he leaves.
He then turns back to the bar, not sure what his next step will be.

"Not that I know about. Good luck with that, I think you'll need it." The keldon smiles, and goes back to his pint of cider.
