The three other commanders of her army look at her with unsure and dismayed expressions (except for the hooded one, whose face is invisible) but don't protest.
"She doesn't want to do this," Sophie observes. Her eyes study the woman with her usual intense, piercing scrutiny. "She will hate herself for it for the rest of her life. But she believes she has to do it. I think this is the end of a very bloody war."
"War drives people to some pretty extreme ends. If it's been as bad as they're implying, then letting the guy's supporters go is suicidally reckless, even for a little time," Trick lets out a sigh. People killing people not even because they want to, but because they have to, forced by circumstance and necessity. Horrible.
