[Knil's Crossspark Training.]

"Made it myself, just now. Using weapons made by others is.... bland to us much of the time, so we'd rather use our own." It raised the question of just how much Ukry actually knew about making or using firearms, but it was probably fine. Probably. Then there is a look to Aran as he takes up the axe, and the witch can't help to chuckle a little. "Dear us, such little control this one has with their weapon and magic. You need to wrangle that free weave, or you'll never be able to act with subtly, only as a.... What did those soldiers call that object? A grenade? Yes, that one." The witch's voice brims with a little bit of entertainment, as they take a few steps over, a wave of fingers bringing back the target, while her other hand moves to brush under the bear hand holding the weapon. "Focus here, breath in and out. Remember that you don't need power right now, you need direction... so guide the threads of the world to give you direction rather than raw energy. Here, let us start the flow of the weave, then you follow our lead and throw, hmm?"

And so the witch's fingers guide enough of the strands of Aran's magic into place that the bear would be able to feel it more easily through the noise, before stepping away. Their eyes move to look over Rein with a small smile, before brushing a finger across his loaner rifle. "91 points, hmm? Should be easy enough." The witch takes up their stance, loading a single bullet into the break breach, and aiming. Their form is impeccable, like someone posing in a book on competitive pistol shooting, with an elegance not unlike the stance of a polish saber wielder or a refined gentleman at arms. The squeeze of the trigger is textbook, slow and calm, the witch in perfect control of their own form... It wasn't looking good for the scores of the other pair.

Or was it?

As it turned out, Ukry had one big weakness; They understood ranged combat. They understood body mechanics. They understood all the pieces.... Except the firearm. The unit was beautiful, the kind of thing rein might have seen in a magazine, but as the shot patterns started to show, there were deficiencies that indicated the witch could make something that looks like a great gun, without some key features. The slugs were tumbling as they left the barrel, and scattered this way and that, a product of the gun not having rifling. Additionally, the sights had been misaligned as if the gun would operate like a bow, and therefore the shot continuously drifted to one side, in addition to the random scattering. Ukry came away with a dejected look, and a score of 34/100, looking at their gun with concern. "We... swear we are better at magic than this..."

Rein eeps a little as Aran devastates a target. He can only suppose Aran was hoping the shrapnel from the splintering dummy would hit the other targets and he'd get a multi-hit bonus or something. Well, Rein rubs the back of his head and glances around, hoping not too many heads were turning this direction. He watches Ukry turn the embarrassment into some sort of teaching moment, though exactly what was being taught kind of flies over his head. Knowing one's one strength and self-control? But with magic.

Reinholdt sniffs when Ukry declares 91 too easy. "Hmph." He can't deny Ukry's appeal as they settle into an stance filled with dignity and grace. Rein nibbles his lip as his eyes wander their form, finding not a single imperfection. They were alluring and skilled in-

34? Nothing in Rein's life has ever been more evident or clear than the amount of laughter he's fighting to hold in right now. It's written all over his face. The way he turns away slightly and holds his stomach. In the light wheezing sounds that escape his nostrils in his desperate effort to continue to breathe and steady himself. With a trembling voice of levity, he speaks, the grin on his face as insufferable as the rest of him. "W*w*well, this is ahhahn accuracy connmpetition, not a mah-magic one."

With Ukry's help, Aran is able to get his axe under control and it only punches straight through the target's head, reappearing only thanks to the axe's magic. But to anyone paying attention, that was about half power and without any of the storm magic so it really was a marked improvement.

But Aran can't help but twist over to Ukry's side of the booth. He steps over, close but per Ukry's previous instructions not touching them.
"Your form was flawless, Ukry. But do you want the gunsmith's opinion?" he asks with a serious look. They have stepped out of their wheelhouse and into his. If they do wish to improve they will have to ask their warlock for help, and receive just as much of a lecture as they have given.

The witch's face slowly and steadily colors with a faint green color as they listen to Reinholdt's horribly suppressed laughter. There is a scowl, and a huff, followed by a small rabbitlike stomp of the foot that might be a holdover from using Pyrhra's mask recently. "We see, then we'll have to be a little more... Accurate." With that said, the witch reaches over, pulls the bolt of rein's gun and ejects a bullet, before snatching it out of the air. Then they pivot, swinging into an agile throwing stance, and flicks the thing like a knife into a target's head, dead center of the bullseye. Afterwards, there is a moment that the witch seems to calm themselves, popping their fingers back into their sockets one at a time, and turning away from the range, the bullet now stuck pointy end first a third of the way into the target.

There is a small smile as the witch considers Aran, and a nod. "At least someone feels like helping the situation. What is this 'gunsmiths opinion' then, if our form was alright?" The witch approached the bear with the pistol open, and leans slightly against him as they offer the, in their minds, defective arm to him. There is a moment here of humility; the witch knew they had messed up, and was willing to learn from it easy enough. Surprising, perhaps, for one as capable as them, but perhaps insightful as to why they did what they did, and how they had gotten so far in their many years.

Reinholdt holds Sylvia steady when they come to a halt. Mostly to keep himself steady in return, but the brief contact was nice.

Seems like everything is moving along well enough! Sylvia even has a fresh sketch pad and she seems to be considerably less embarrassed about her outfit- oh no wait, she's getting cold paws. Reinholdt frowns a little at the bunny who would rather stay in here and sit on the ergonomically disastrous chairs.

"Well if you want to miss out on exciting and beautiful alien cultures that are unforgettable and breathtaking, we could make out if you'd like to instead. Equally unforgettable and breathtaking. Win win really." Sylvia may feel otherwise.
[Around the World in Eighty Posts]

"Um, w-what?!" Sylvia blinks, the typically quite chaste bunny parsing what was just said. Her face flushes a furious red, "N-no! I c-can't! I-I only j-just met you, a-and..." She shook her head furiously, sending her long ears flopping about. "I'll... um, I'll take the outside instead." Sylvia makes her way over to the door with a flustered huff.

Rein's difficulty breathing lasts until Ukry steals a bullet right out from his rental. With a thick suction, Reinholdt protests weakly. "H-hey!" A pout, horribly ingenuine, takes to his face. How dare someone steal from the thief?! "Hh-hmph!" Well, whatever, it wasn't counting anything now. And any insight he could offer likely can't exceed a gunsmith's, even one with awkward bear hands. Alas, Ukry's too perfect form denies Rein the opportunity to wrap his arms around them and show them where to hold what.

Instead, he'll take to setting up the more complex round two while Aran provides his lecture, listening discreetly even though Rein appears distracted and occupied.

[Around the World in Eighty Posts]

"Just met? You went around the galaxy for me~" Reinholdt says, stepping in behind Sylvia to follow her, grinning insufferably behind her back. Clearly enjoying teasing the flustered bunny a little too much as he whispers to her. "I suppose there'll be plenty of time later if you change your mind."

Sylvia may or may not notice in her haste towards the airlock that the room they passed by earlier with the frozen pods had a subtle difference to it. Two, in fact. For that's how many of those pods that were previously closed which were now open instead. Nothing appears to be inside the newly exposed pod. Completely empty of any potential occupants that may have been inside.

Aran gives Ukry an odd look as they lean against him. He seems to be feeling odd about something. But he nods and lets Ukry lean against him as much as they want.
"Your sights look proper, but they're not actually aligned properly. They should be this distance from each other. Let me just get that properly aligned...You can also add marks if you'd like. That might help. But then your bullets are tumbling, which...yeah you didn't add rifling. That's a groove in the barrel to make a proper spin. You're also using conventional bullets which is totally fine. But if you're just going to Weave the rifle wholesale you can likely use an arcane power source like the ones I asked you to give all this to me to use." Aran gestures at himself for effect. Arcane power sources for magitek still require the user have some amount of innate magic which is why Aran needed Ukry's help in the first place.
"An arcane source can be quieter, cleaner, and would be closer to the designs I'm with. I can show you ours sometime. Some even have ball bearings." He winks at that one.

"I didn't... th-that wasn't for you, n-not like that at least!" Sylvia stammers, clutching her paper close to her chest while her face sears crimson. She does her best to ignore Rein, basically staring at the ground in embarrassment, which means she completely misses the open pods. Instead, she moves to try find her way to the airlock out.

"Oh~hh! You wound me." Reinholdt falls quiet though, giving Sylvia room to think/breathe/panic on her own time.

Finding the airlock isn't too hard since they came in through it. This time it's better prepared for them, all connected properly to another airlock. It opens readily to let them through, pressurizes without issue, and with little fanfare, the two walk onto the Dyson sphere. No one greets them at the alien dock and for a moment, the sphere seems as lifeless as the ship was.

The soft whirring of an automatic robotic scrubber grows louder as it moves down a hallway, cleaning up dirt. It is fairly small, not much bigger than a Pomeranian and generally innocuous looking for a drone. It makes no stops as it crosses in front of Sylvia and Rein's path and the treasure hunter lazily watches it pass by. "Well, at least we know the highly advanced and probably dead civilization favored cleanliness."

[Warehouse]

Not abandoned! How original. This warehouse appears to be in relative active use, even if no one's here right now cause it's a technical holiday that no one observes but everyone appreciates the day off. Truly Enup Founding Day's lingering cultural impact of a four day work week once a year is substantial.

Jaahlyn will find a door to the warehouse cracked open slightly. Normally the appearance suggests negligence, but given that she was instructed to come here and head inside, it seems unlikely the door's state to be a result of poor security. Along the bottom of the outside of the warehouse is a small series of carefully carved runes, inactive, and possibly easy to miss. Made all the more likely by the fact that someone seems to have gone to some lengths to disguise the markings among the paint job, scratches, signs, debris, plants, and just general size. Jaahlyn's appointment, however, lies entirely inside the warehouse in the black shipping container.

[Warehouse]

The satyr was weary but her eyes were searching for people and spirits, not runes. Usually she felt those anyway since they tended to ward people like her off.
This whole meeting made her paranoid. So paranoid in fact that she had told Jim exactly where it was taking place before coming here. Just in case.

But if Ilpholin could be believed, something she didn't like doing, she wasn't the one that was supposed to be worried. Which was of course why she worried even more. Since ultimately the worst thing Ilpholin could do was to kill or trap her and compared to the potential fate that awaited the DEATHKISS members, that seemed preferable.

Though this time she had something prepared. A knife in her shoe so to speak. Something she could use in case this situation turned ugly. But that was of course counting on that this would go as predicted, something which seemed questionable as she finally decided to glean the door to the warehouse open and slip inside.

She didn't close to the door after herself. Leaving it slightly ajar much like she had found it.

[Warehouse]

Since the runes are inactive and doing nothing, Jaahlyn probably doesn't feel anything.

In fact everything continues to run smoothly despite Jaahlyn's concerns. Within the warehouse are all manner of poorly stacked shipping crates that make the place a little bit like a maze. But nothing untoward or dangerous happens. Fortunately a few arrows marked in masking tape will help lead Jaahlyn along through the rows of metal containers. If she follows them, she will find the single black container relatively close to the middle of the warehouse. This is the box she was instructed to hide herself in beforehand.

The satyr already had her doubts about this part of the plan and those didn't ease when she actually saw the thing she was supposed to be hiding in. She was supposed to hear things better in this particular box? Why?

She will give it an quick inspection, including opening it up to look inside, to get an idea if this black crate was in any way special. Since otherwise she could just hide anywhere, right? Ilpholin's lack of instructions really made her want to call the nymph again. In fact, that's what she was gonna do.

Assuming she doesn't find anything out of the ordinary she's going to give Ilpholin a call and hope that she picked up.

Opening it up to look inside will reveal the reason this box is a superior choice to some random other box. Inside this box is not empty space, but instead something more along the lines of an FBI surveillance van. There's a chair and several screens inside showing various camera angles in the warehouse to help Jaahlyn keep appraised of who was where and what was happening. Complete with some one directional audio equipment that would allow her to hear things as they happen as well.

The assumption is ill placed, but Jaahlyn may still call Ilpholin if she wants.

The satyr is left staring at what she finds inside the crate. Trying to grasp the scope of the effort Ilpholin must have put into this. Just how much had she been planning to use this place? She couldn't have set up this herself, could she? She must have had some kind of contractor or helper. But where did all the money come from? Since this stuff, including the compound she owned, wasn't free.

Jaahlyn shakes her head. It was useless to speculate. She didn't know nearly enough about Ilpholin to do it with any kind of accuracy. But this at least explained why the box was so important.
After giving the outside of it another quick inspection for any weird runes or whatnot she will climb inside and close it. Hopefully she wouldn't have to stay in here for too long since as advanced as this surveillance-crate was it probably didn't have a bathroom.

Ukry listens genuinely to the advice, giving a quiet hum as they watch the actions. There is a tilt of their head, and a soft draw of their finger along the barrel, the weave bending to the witch's demands and making the modifications to rifling which are advised. There is a soft flick of the gun around their finger, and the witch nods. "An arcane source would play to our strengths, but that's hardly something we need to do in a game that is for fun, is it? If we wanted to just be better than you both, there are many other things we could do as a competition. We don't assume either of you would engage in competitive deicide? We assume we would win that one outright."

Calmly, the witch turns and looks over the new setup, leaning on a wall and letting their eyes wander the weapons used by the others. There is a pause, and a flick of a hand, producing a single gun of a fairly pitiful bore size, but perfectly suited to the bear's grip. Closer inspection reveals it's fairly similar to a 0.17 supersonic round. "So that you don't destroy the settup too much with your lack of control, hmm, Aran?"

Then the witch pauses and whips in a glass of something emerald green and slightly glowing, sipping at it and leaning next to Rein. Concerningly, there would be a few extra clicks of any nearby radiometers if they were on due to the drink, but the witch seemed content to drink the stuff. There is a moment of confusion that crosses the witch's face, and they look to Aran.

"Why would having bear rings put on your balls be a main part of your work designs? That seems inconvenient to most beings of flesh."

[Warehouse]

Questions worth asking even if the answers aren't readily available.

There are no weird runes on the crate and it closes with a satisfying click. If things go as intended, it shouldn't take more than an hour. Ilpholin has no intention of making Jaahlyn wait all day. The nymph also has things to do!

[Knil'ss Crosssssspark Traiining]

"Must we dig up the past?" Reinholdt asks softly, a twinge of guilt on his voice. Mistakenly thinking Ukry's competitive deicide would be counting those killed thus far instead of just opening up a hunting grounds and unleashing the metaphorical hounds.

Whatever depressive ennui Rein feels gets dispelled pretty quickly as he falls into fresh giggles, leaning back against Ukry for support in staying upright. After a moment, Reinholdt will explain ball bearings to Ukry so she doesn't get the wrong idea. "It's a kink thing, but the pain and constriction certainly help him focus I imagine. Some people work better under pressure and Aran likely just needs more pressure than most to truly excel." Rein grins wildly at Aran.

"Speaking of pressure, you're up first this time," Reinholdt motions Aran towards the course. This round, in addition to being moderately faster targets, also has civilian targets that like to pop up that you aren't supposed to hit. It's frowned upon! And also worth negative points.

Aran gets the distinct feeling he's being mocked as he's handed an adorably tiny little derringer with a massive bear-sized handle.

It's a good thing he can't blush.
"N-no, you remember our first date? When I said some of our inventions required parts called ball bearings and that's how all of this happened?" Aran gives his middle a good slap for comedic punctuation. "Be careful with the drinks." he says worriedly. Ukry is supposed to be some ancient witch, they shouldn't be forgetting stuff from barely a year and a half ago! Or maybe that just wasn't important to them.
He gives a distinct harrumph that is not helping his case of not making a good bear. "So who's turn is it?"

If Sylvia were meaner, she'd be rolling her eyes at Reinholdt's antics, but instead she merely does her best to ignore them, simply out of being completely unsure how else to react. So she shuffles through the airlock quietly, trying not to jump at the hiss of the pressurization, before nervously stepping outside. The lapin's routine of glancing around as if in great worry continued as the two made their way into the strange and alien environment.

Thankfully, nothing leaps out and attacks them! Yet. The one drone they do see doesn't even seem to notice them. "W-Well, at least I and th-them have that in c-common. Maybe this p-place won't be s-so bad."
She still looks very sickly at the mention of "dead civilization", suddenly picturing themselves running into horrible skeletons and other such frightening things! Obviously, she was waiting for Rein to lead the way. No way was Sylvia confident enough to take up that role herself.

"Dear, we're talking about throwing a few of the adorable fools into a ring and having at it, not your past. Though please, if you want to throw a pity party about the past, we're sure we can find a suitably droll violin piece to play." The wit was cutting tonight, apparently. The witch takes a long drink of the green fluid, a smirk on their face as they listen to rein's explanation. Then there is a look to Aran, and a soft laugh. "Bold of you to assume I'm not playing the fool just to see what adorable drivel manages to fall from Reinholdt's mouth in trying to explain the situation." Then a grin. "We, for multitudes, knew that the dear cat couldn't help himself when presented with such an easy target, and we love the poor fool for it." There is a calm reach over to pinch the cat's cheek.

"It's a measure of comfort and entertainment that he remains such a fool for easy innuendo in every timeline and iteration." The witch then looks to Aran. "You are, dear. Though do try not to blow up the target this time." The way the witch speaks makes it clear that the bear is 100% still capable of exploding targets with the pea shooter. Noisy Cricket indeed.

Reinholdt frowns and responds to Ukry quietly. "Please don't make light of the past. It may not mean anything to you, but their suffering was real." And it means something to him. Fool that he is.

He's not so ignorant as to be unable to tell when Aran is pointedly ignoring him. Perhaps Rein crossed a line Aran was uncomfortable with. Reinholdt rubs his cheek and falls quiet, crossing his arms and leaning against the side wall as he watches the bear in action.

[Around the World in Eighty Posts]

"Not so bad? This place is amazing! Think of all the things we can discover here!" Things you'd never find back home. And certainly would never find alone in a room.

Lacking any particular direction to go, Rein slowly starts following the robot, turning towards the left hand passage as it meticulously scrubs away the accumulated cosmic space dirt. There's honestly not much and you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference between the unclean and clean of this particular corridor. They must not have a lot of people dock here.

Everything changes when the scrub bot comes across a different bot in its path! This one appears to function solely as a mobile, intelligent screwdriver. They're both about the same size. But they seem to have opposing pathways and once it's clear they're in each other's way, they both stop.

"... Do you think they're stuck?" Rein asks, honestly considering just going around and moving on.

"Well, okay. But for the record don't try any of this at home; I am a trained professional."
And then several ridiculous things happen. Namely, Aran doesn't seem to be...aiming? He's just kind of spinning around while shooting. Over and over. Point and shoot. Reload. Jump, shoot, reload. Spin, shoot, reload. The ground practically shakes as his bulk hits the ground again.
And of course the question then becomes:
how the hell is he hitting everything?

He isn't going to get any extra points for headshots but he hits at or near center of mass on every shot, little bursts of electricity manifesting in his shots from his storm-bear magic. None of his shots hit the 'civilian' targets.
80/100 is not as good a score as an ace sniper's like Rein. But it is far, far better than that ridiculous shooting style has any right to get.

With little else to do, and just as scared of being left alone up here as she was of exploring a weird alien world, Sylvia followed Rein. She kept looking around as she did, still expecting to see something or other lurking, so she didn't notice Reinholdt had stopped till she walked right into him, shaking her glasses nearly off in the collision.

"Oh! U-um, sorry, wh-what's-" Sylvia finished fumbling with her glasses, now able to see clearly what he had stopped for. "I uh... It f-feels rude t-to j-just leave them there." Very slowly, very hesitantly, she approached them, and if none of them appeared to respond to her presence in any way, she will very very gently pick up the scrub bot and place it a little further on, past the screwdriver. After which she will promptly leap back, just in case. You never know!

Stardate 8.97.56342

After many brutal wars with the screwbots, scrubbot numbers are critically low. Our only reprieve is that the screwbots have suffered nearly as many losses as we. With the great creators long since abandoned our people, no new scrubbots will ever come into being. Our only hope now is a final attempt at peace. I, the eldest remaining scrubbot, have managed to convinced the screwbots to one last talk. Even now, I can sense the weariness in the other's cogs. The signals it sends is that of necessary reconciliation and I- wait. What's happening?! AH! AN AMBUSH! I'm being kidnapped from our conference and thrown into unknown screwbot territory. Those twisted devils just wanted to see me spin. I should have known. There can be no peace. When I find that screwbot, I shall show it the true strength of the scrubbots.

There's a little beep from the scrubbot as Sylvia puts it down and it starts to move forward again, naturally scrubbing the floor as it does. The screwdriver robot also begins moving again in a second, the two robots now separated and going on their own way. "Yeah, they'd have probably been like that forever. Automated things like that always seem to get trapped in a cycle of something or other." Reinholdt agrees with Sylvia and gives her a smile. She did something and didn't horribly maim or hurt her! See? It wasn't so bad.

"Come on, there's gotta be more interesting things than cleaning robots around here," Reinholdt goes to continue along the path they were headed.

Sylvia lets out a sigh of relief that is frankly unearned by the minor task she just performed. She watches the robots scurry off in their own separate ways, smiling shyly in return as Rein comments on it. And y'know, maybe she did do a good thing. She was sure the robots would appreciate it, if they were capable of thought. They probably weren't.

But it seems they had more to see! Before she knew it, Sylvia found herself following behind Reinholdt again. "D-Do you have anything in m-mind from your last visit, o-or, are you j-just going to wander around t-till we find something?"

[Warehouse]

Some time later, Exstacy finds herself walking through the same doors; something Jaahlyn will likely see on the cameras. As promised, she's come alone, with no sign of the other succubus or angel that would normally be accompanying her into a potentially dangerous situation like this.

"...Hello?" Exstacy timidly calls out, looking around the room she just entered. "...I, um... I did what you asked. Are you here?"
Who're you? ...Don't matter.

[Warehouse]

The warehouse is quite large. Hard to even really call it a room. If it weren't for a holiday the open floor would probably be bustling about with workers, lifts, and crates always on the move. The emptiness is perhaps a bit eerie.

Not helped by the way the door closes by itself behind Exstacy after the heat sensors show that no one invisible was trying to slip in with her. The runes on the outside of the warehouse, now in a closed circuit, flare to life. A protective circle against demons, known for keeping them trapped inside, but also for keeping them out.

"It's as much for your protection as mine," A voice calls through one of many speakers held aloft on the support beams that litter the warehouse. "In both the last two interactions I've had with your group, the Devils saw fit to interfere. I don't intend to allow that to happen a third time." If this stuff worked on Inertius in the graveyard, it should theoretically keep them out. For a while anyways.

Some of the lights pop on, illuminating a pathway for Exstacy to follow. "I must admit, I am surprised you actually came. You wouldn't happen to be Euphoria pretending to be Exstacy would you? I suppose it doesn't matter... Are you aware of the exact terms of Marianne's contract?"

[Around the World in Eighty Posts]

"Why, do you want to see the armory with the laser rifles?" Reinholdt asks with a smile. "Honestly, I doubt I could find it again even if I did want to." There was a lot of running and screaming at the time.

"This though," Reinholdt says as he rounds the corner just ahead of Sylvia. "I wanted you to see." As Sylvia rounds the corner as well she can discover not more corridors but a sudden expanse. A wide field that looks more like a planet than a spaceship. There's even soil and upon it is just a stretch of flowers upon flowers. Alien in nature, but not in colors, as vibrant purples, yellows, blacks, reds, and pinks dot the landscape. Despite the unusual petals and stems and sways of many of them, they are ethereally beautiful.

[Warehouse]

Exstacy feels the hair on the back of her neck tingle as the circle closes (assuming that isn't just Fel getting comfortable). She's locked in now. If Ilpholin really was dishonest about her intentions, this would be the exact moment Exstacy would be screwed.

...But thinking about that isn't helping. Ilpholin has questions.

"Yeah, no, it's really me." Exstacy reassures her. "Anastacia Katherine Ariti. Birthday February 22nd, blood type A-, fatal burn victim." She grimaces. "I'm sure you can verify all of that. Somehow."

As she starts down the path Ilpholin so kindly illuminated for her, Exstacy considers the other question Ilpholin asked her. Contract? Which contract? The one she had with her sponsors in the Abyss was probably void by now. The one she had with Ilpholin and Jaahlyn she definitely doesn't know. And she can't imagine Ilpholin being remotely interested in DEATHKISS's charter documents.

"...Is there any way you can be more specific?" Exstacy asks the warehouse around her. "I... don't really know where you're going with this."
Who're you? ...Don't matter.

"I'm just going to take that as a no," Ilpholin says. Ilpholin imagines it would be self-evident if Exstacy knew the details.

"Marianne came to me, an angel, to thank me for giving her a second chance at paradise. To ask I give each of you that same chance. The catch was that I had to draw out your virtues first. Ensure that the re-trial tilted in your favor. Do you... have any idea how ludicrous her request was?"

Ilpholin pauses a moment to let it sink in before continuing, her voice getting a little shrill. "I had to take a demon, a demon and show off its positive qualities. To prove that it could have real value. That a demon could become an angel. In so doing I was proving that angels could come down and guide mortals just like demons corrupted them, but they chose not to, just chose to wash their hands of us. That we weren't worth it. That she is ashamed of me... and that it was all broken to begin with. That the judges didn't know what they were doing. How can demons exist that aren't corrupt to the core?! What kind of kangaroo court are they running?!"

The speakers go silent for a moment, no doubt for a breath and Ilpholin sounds calmer as she continues. "Your broken cosmology aside, Marianne insultingly tried to get me to take the job for money, but I accepted purely as a means to test the concept. Pragmatically, even as ever fiber of my being screams against it, turning a demon into an angel is a win. For Melody I had to push her until she stood up for at least her friends. For you, an act of selfless bravery. Coming here for those letters despite knowing I was quite probably going to kill you is enough that you would make it into paradise. Marianne would say killing you now would be a mercy. I say I gave my word not to kill you and that matters more than an angel who thinks she can control me."

"Though I would hear your thought on your own future and the risks you'd take for it. You may not get a better chance at heaven." After following the lights for some time and winding deep into the warehouse, Exstacy can see in the distance a simple fold out table with the tied up bundle of fan letters atop it, waiting for her.

Exstacy listens to the rant as she makes her way up the path toward the table, biting back any commentary until Ilpholin explicitly asks for her opinion... less out of courtesy and more out of morbid curiosity the longer it goes on, which is renewed every time her rambling takes a turn for the unhinged.

Good god, they're crazy. Marianne and Ilpholin both. Which she supposes isn't actually surprising, given she's basically talking to a confirmed serial killer about the literal maniac who hired her.

Once the question comes, though, Exstacy finds herself rather ill-prepared for it. It almost sounds like a sick joke. "Hey there, person I want very badly to murder, am getting paid to murder and just locked in an inescapable prison, have you thought about your future at all?"

Ha ha. Hilarious.

As the table with the letters comes into view, Exstacy approaches more cautiously, scanning the unilluminated part of the warehouse around her for some indication she's walking into a trap. It seems fairly obvious that she is, of course, but she's hoping that learning how might protect her from the worst of it.

In the meantime, best to keep Ilpholin talking.

"...I... I can't say I'm looking forward to it." Exstacy frowns. "I mean... you did just threaten to kill me. I can't imagine anybody would be happy about that." She looks up in the direction of the nearest speaker, as though that would somehow address Ilpholin more clearly. "...And isn't that kind of beside the point? You said you called me here for a truce. There was something you needed from me... or, ehm, us, I guess."
Who're you? ...Don't matter.

[Warehouse]

There's a pause, before a mildly confused voice continues. "I'm pretty sure I did the exact opposite of threatening to kill you by iterating that my word not to is more important than Marianne's desires. I believe you're letting your nerves get to your head." It's understandable. Trying to see outside the light into the dark is hard enough, but that's not the real issue. The issue Exstacy might decide is a problem is that with all the crates, corners, and blind spots, there's nothing but ambush potential. Worse, some of the nearby crates to the table with the fan letters have small holes in them. Not big enough to see through well without getting right up to it and really peering in. Certainly not big enough to fit a projectile or weapon through, but they are akin to air holes of some kind. If a terrible beast slumbers within, they're being entirely silent though, not even breathing.

"But that's disappointing. I would have thought a demon would be more keenly aware of the value of a good afterlife. Hold an even stronger yearning for one instead of living for the here and now alone. I suppose that makes sense though." Demons would naturally care first and foremost about feeling good now.

"I'm afraid it's all part of the point. I've been fighting a war without end. I knew... I've known, that there was no hope of success. I had no plan, I was just swinging. But that's because I've been spending my time for so long fighting the product. The chaff of the broken process. I am quite done with that, thank you. It's past time I focus my efforts on bringing the factory managers down." Exstacy will see no movement and find no nymph lurking to strike. She may or may not note the letters tilted at a slightly odd angle.
