"U-Um." That sounds like a high-stakes bet. Especially as Sylvia knew nothing about aliens, or spaceships. "M-maybe it was l-like... medicine of s-some kind." Although what kind of medicine could bust it's way out of a crate, she didn't know. Then again, maybe that was just weird damage that occurred in the whole zombie saga.

She peers out from behind him, staring at the same equipment. It certainly looked like what she assumed a power core would like. "S-so, how do we t-turn it on? I d-don't know what any of th-this stuff d-does."

Reinholdt nods approvingly. "Medicine's a good guess. I'll go with a rare or new piece of technology." Spaceships always liked testing new tech in space, right?

"Pfft. Why would I know?" Reinholdt reassures Sylvia with a non-chalant shrug. He's not an engineer! "Fortunately for you, I had the pleasure of pillaging a different spaceship of crashed convicted alien criminals and managed to get... ta-daaaa, the power core!!" Reinholdt summons a heavy looking case out of thin air and opens it up to show what is indeed some sort of glowing core. It's kind of hard to look at. "Had to seduce my way past an arachnid woman who needed to mate or die as per her species, but it was worth it! I was using this baby to power my infinite loop time stop trap at my hideout, but no one's ever come to visit and the thing I was guarding kinda stopped being important so I figure, why not just use it here where spaceship power cores belong?"

Reinholdt heads over to the obvious core location and with his surprisingly long sexy nurse gloves, takes the core and slots it into place, removing the long dead o.
...
Nothing really seems to happen though.
"Well shoot. I really thought these were going to be interchang-"
Reinholdt is interrupted by the sudden sound of the engine coming to life, followed by pretty much everything else, the dim lightning becoming bright, buttons becoming active and a barrier field of some kind wrapping around the power core.

"A rare or new piece of technology" was a little vague, to the point that Sylvia felt it was probably a little bit cheating, but she supposed the qualifier of it being rare or new would narrow things down a bit.

And there was another wild story from Reinholdt. She opened her mouth to call it into question, "Y-You-" but her mouth dropped open as he produced the core from thin air. He really just... had that? Where was he keeping all this stuff anyways? He'd pulled the outfits from thin air too. She imagined it was some kind of pocket dimension, but the array of items she had seen from it so far seemed pretty eclectic.

She blushes at his hint of what he had to do to get the item, but thankfully the adventurer skips past the details. "Infinite timeloop trap at my hideout" was another wild statement, but at this point she figured it'd be easier to just accept the weird and crazy things he said.

Sylvia finds herself stepping back when the core is plugged in, still half-expecting the whole thing to explode violently or otherwise go wrong somehow. Thankfully, it doesn't. In fact, nothing happens at all! She's just about to suggest they give up and go home- this whole place was giving her the creeps, and she really wanted out of these clothes- but then all of a sudden the ship whirrs to life. And nothing terrible happens! "Oh, w-wow, it worked!" Sylvia was unable to hide the surprise in her voice. There was some relief too, though- the lights made this place less creepy, thankfully. "D-do you think there's a s-switch f-for a heater around here?" She was still feeling the cold a bit. Her eyes darted around, taking in the room now that it was lit up.

Reinholdt starts looking around at the switches and opens his mouth to reply when he's cruelly interrupted.

"Heating activating. Raising to comfortable temperatures." The heat kicks on pretty quick and it immediately starts getting warmer. But not too warm. Enough to finally stop feeling damp after a few minutes though.

Surprised, Reinholdt starts looking around for a source but finds none. "Who said that?"

"I am the Sentient Enhanced Bio-stored Intelligence, or SEBI for short," the voice says, high toned and highly mechanical sounding. "Scanning. Life forms detected: 2. Please state your NAMES and RANKS."

Syvlia jumps at the unexpected voice, letting out a small yelp and immediately shrinking behind Reinholdt. Nothing terrible happens though, and the room starts to warm quite pleasantly. The bunnygirl peers out around him rather sheepishly. She can't see the source of the voice either.

Then it asks for her name and rank, and she starts to worry again. What if they don't reply? Would some alien defence system come online and start firing!? So before she can stop herself she blurts out, "M-My name is S-Sylvia Brownlow. U-Um. And m-my r-rank is..." She realized her mistake now, as she had no answer to give, and looked desperately to Reinholdt for some help or guidance.

"Uhh..." Reinholdt looks at Sylvia with an apologetic shrug. He doesn't know what to do! But he'll fill in the gaps anyways as he looks at Sylvia's costume. "Head maid. And I'm Reinholdt Terenti... Head... Nurse??"

SEBI replies promptly. "Understood. Access to engineering is restricted to medical and cleaning staff except in the case of a medical emergency or with special provisions. Contacting CAPTAIN to determine if punitive measures need to be taken. Please remain still."

Rein glances worriedly at Sylvia.

Sylvia raised an eyebrow at Reinholdt's choice of 'ranks' for them, though she supposed she had nothing better to offer. She didn't exactly want to have to start roleplaying the part of a maid though- this outfit was embarrassing enough already. Plus, she didn't know how to do maid things! The fact of the matter was that her family had a maid, and she always dealt with any cleaning. If Sylvia had to do some alien laundry to avoid annihilation by AI, she'd be in quite the pickle. So she just had to hope such a thing wasn't in the cards.

Besides, she had more pressing things to worry about! Reinholdt may have seemed to successfully convinced this SEBI thing that they were ship crew, but those last two sentences were ominous. "U-Um... what p-punitive measures m-might be t-taken?" Currently the bunnygirl was frozen to the spot, but she looked ready to bolt, eyes wide with evident panic and body starting to shake.

Doing laundry, or accepting total annihilation. A difficult choice for anyone really.

"Punitive measures may include extra duties, removal of special privileges, a penal mark of chastisement in your records, stripature of rank and uniform, incarceration in the brig, being jettisoned from the airlock and/or ceasing mortality functions via intraklonicalism. As per the CAPTAIN'S discretion." SEBI explains.

Reinholdt winces at a few of those, his feet slowllly starting to edge back towards the door, but it slams shut with a hiss. Looking momentarily chastised, he takes a hold of Sylvia's hand and squeezes it tight to give her some support even if he was feeling things might be getting a little dire.

"CAPTAIN not found. Searching for FIRST MATE.... FIRST MATE not found. Modifying parameters. SEARCHING..." SEBI goes quiet for an almost extended period of time before spitting back out the results of its search. "No other crew members found. As a medical officer belongs in a separate ranking system subservient to the command ranking system, SYLVIA BROWNLOW is now ACTING CAPTAIN of the ship. Warning ACTING CAPTAIN SYLVIA BROWNLOW, unauthorized access to engineering has been detected by HEAD NURSE REINHOLDT TERENTI. What are your instructions?"

The list of punishments didn't sound all so bad at first, especially as some of it was functionally meaningless to them, but it rapidly got a lot more worrying. Sylvia's eyes widened in fear, before the door closing behind them caused her to yelp. She clung to Reinholdt's whole arm the moment he offered support, trembling as she waited to hear their fate.

And waited.

And waited somemore. Until, finally, SEBI came to it's conclusion. Sylvia blinked rapidly in confusion. "W-what?" There was a pause as she took this all in, not quite believing her ears. And then, hastily, she added, "Oh! U-um. D-Don't hurt us! H-Him, I m-mean. N-no punishment will b-be necessary! C-Captain's orders." Was she doing this right?

"Punitive measures are recommended Captain. But if you're sure..." SEBI can't override a Captain's Orders on such matters. The door will hiss and re-open, giving the two both free access to come or go as they please.

Reinholdt releases a breath he didn't know he was holding. "Good thinking Sylvia. Nice job." Rein favors her with a smile for preventing the AI from murdering him. He gives her a quick pat on the head.

"Oh. And SEBI, can you show us how to get to the Bridge from here?" Reinholdt asks. In response, a series of lights show up on the floor, clearly designating a path they can follow. "Sweet." His former enthusiasm was steadily returning after that momentary scare.

Sylvia lets out a similar sigh of relief, as she still hadn't been entirely sure SEBI would actually listen to her. She smiles shyly back at him a little bit proudly with the compliment. Did she do something right for once? Had she finally achieved something? And then she gets pat on the head, and she blushes. "R-Right. Um, th-thanks." She seems briefly stunned for a moment as she processed the moment of affection, before snapping back to reality. As hesitant to take the lead as ever, she simply waited to follow Reinholdt, even as the path was lit for them.

Reinholdt glances at Sylvia, expecting the captain to lead the way, but it quickly becomes clear that Sylvia prefers to captain from his rear. Well, it wouldn't be the first time... so Rein will go in front and follow the path.

While it might still be a bit eerie following an AI and a string of lights, the ship does seem nicer with the lights on and ventilation properly circulation again. Already the stale air is starting to feel fresher and fresher. They pass by a few doors, the only one of note being one that appears to be ever so slightly raised with some flickering lights coming from beneath. Rein, of course, immediately turns towards that door.

"That is not recommended," SEBI states before Rein gets too close. "That room holds my core unit and is hazardous. Furthermore it is off-limits to medical personnel barring a medical emergency." With a frown of disappointment, Rein steps away, not wanting to be punished.

Eventually though, they make it to the bridge! There are some truly exotic chairs here that don't look at all comfortable. One of them is bound to be the Captain's chair. Reinholdt moves to what he guesses might be the pilot's chair maybe and starts pressing what he presumes are buttons. "Alright! Let's get this thing flying! Uhh... SEBI, how do we get this to go up?" Up being the most important direction.

The change in atmosphere does cause Sylvia to relax somewhat. Very slightly. She's still jittery, peering anxiously around, but at least there's not so many dark corners for hypothetical spooky alien monsters to be lurking. The flickering lights from under SEBI's door does make her a little nervous, though by now Reinholdt has probably figured there's not much that doesn't. "W-what's so hazardous about your c-core room? D-Do we n-need to be worried about a-anything?"

From there she continues to follow him into the bridge, looking around with some trepidation. Those chairs... ouch. Yeah, no, she'll stay standing. She reaches for her journal to start some sketches, before remembering that she left it behind, as it only would have gotten damaged while diving. Her grey eyes wander slowly over the room, taking it all in- before Rein starts hitting buttons. "H-Hey wait, d-don't hit those, w-we don't know what th-they do!" And, as an addition to his request to SEBI, "S-Safely, please! A-A-And slowly!"

"You should be very worried," SEBI says. "Do not enter the computer core room." Well that was... not really even an answer. Is Sylvia going to take this AI's lip like that, as Captain?

Reinholdt looks at Sylvia with concerned confusion. "Well how are we supposed to find out what the buttons do if we don't press them?" Truly a philosophical conundrum. It could probably be solved by pushing more buttons though... which Rein doesn't do. Yet. His finger is lingering dangerously close to one as he looks at Sylvia though.

"Initiating atmospheric and secondary drives. Safely and slowly," SEBI confirms. The ship shudders, as if trying to force Sylvia to reconsider sitting in one of those terrible chairs. But honestly, even if she did sit in one, it doesn't look like it would secure her in any way. So maybe just finding the nearest thing or person to hold on to was the best choice.

Fortunately, once they're out of the water (and they can certainly feel the difference as they leave it), it's shockingly smooth. To the point where Rein is concerned that maybe they aren't actually moving at all and that SEBI is going too safely and slowly. "Uhhh..." Rein looks around, still waiting for the g-forces to kick in and the adrenaline to start pumping. "Can we get some kind of display going to show us where we are compared to outside?"

With a flicker, a screen pops up, showing the last trails of clouds as the ship hurdles into the darkness of space, the planet below them becoming clearer and smaller by the second. Even Rein looks taken aback.

"Uh, r-right." Don't be silly. Of course Sylvia was going to take that lip. The girl couldn't stand up to a wet paper bag!

"You c-could ask SEBI! What i-if the b-buttons do s-something bad!" Her eyes were locked on Reinholdt's hand, as if the mere act of looking would keep him from pressing anything more. She would soon have something new to stress about though, as the ship lurches. She doesn't sit, but instead grips the chair tight. Unfortunately, it turns out it swivels, and the unexpected movement sends her stumbling and tripping over her dress with a yelp.

Rising to her feet again, sheepishly and unsteadily, Sylvia looks up just in time to see the screen spring to life. And all of a sudden, she's breathless. The bunnygirl seems frozen, clearly shaking as she realizes just how fast and high they're going, but at the same time completely in awe of the view. "I-it's beautiful..."

Reinholdt's fingers instinctively get closer to the button even as Sylvia stares directly at him. So close now... so close...

At the last second Rein pulls his hand away and starts to shake his head, but he's startled by the sudden movement. And then concerned as Sylvia tumbles to the floor beside him. He quickly gets out of his painful chair to help her up with one hand, staring into her eyes as he does so. "Yes, you are." Reinholdt says before realizing she was looking past him and turns around. "Ahh- I mean... yes." Rein blushes for a moment before focusing on the stars in the sky like diamonds strewn across a raven gown. At the jewel that is the planet full of life and chaos being left behind. At the other planets, unique in color and composition they begin to pass by.

Oh wait, they are really moving. "Ahem, SEBI. Let's stop for a second. And properly plot a course. There's this nearby Dyson Sphere in the delma quadrant. You should take us there." Much better than flying blindly at least. Surprisingly, the ship does seem to slow to a halt then accelerate once more in a different direction, at least it seems as much.

"W-What?" Sylvia wasn't sure she heard Rein right. Or rather, she had heard him perfectly, but it caught her so off-guard she was sure she must've gotten it wrong somehow. A similar blush rises to her face as she glances over at him. Rein seems to move on quickly though, and she's far too shy to bring it up further.

The planet below really is beautiful, breath-taking, stunning. But it's moving away at an alarming rate. Thankfully, Rein seems to have a place in mind, although she realizes with a pang of worry that she has no idea how to tell if they're really going the right way. "Um. What's a d-dyson sphere? And h-how far is i-it?" Seems for all her bookish nature, Sylvia isn't much into sci-fi.

The only hint that Reinholdt knew what he said or meant it is a surreptitious wink that could honestly mean anything at all! There's so many things to wink about.

"It's a... umm..." Reinholdt trails off in thought. "Well it's... I mean... I've been there so. Uhh... it's umm... like an artificial planet??" Reinholdt has no idea now that Sylvia brings it up! He awkwardly twirls his fingers as he makes up the closest approximate guess he has.

"A Dyson Sphere is an artificial megastructure surrounding a star to utilize its maximum potential solar energy. Dyson Spheres are often inhabitable and possess many terraforming similarities to 'artificial planets' as the Head Nurse would say." This only makes Rein put his hands on his hips, shifting his own clothes incidentally to be a little more revealing, as he declares victory in his pose. Hah! He had it almost certainly, tangentially correct! "We will arrive in four minutes, fifty three seconds."

A confused expression crosses Sylvia's face as she gets an explanation, though it's soon overridden by a blush as Rein's pose shows off a little. "S-Something that b-big was built out h-here? I d-didn't even know th-that was p-possible! H-How did they g-get the resources? Who b-built it?" Those questions were addressed to SEBI, though her next was to Rein. "You've b-been there before? "Unknown. Unknown." SEBI unhelpfully replies. Though it does at least provide an addendum. "This particular Dyson Sphere emerged after my landing at our previous coordinates." The spaceship wasn't in space when it went up, alas!

"Yeah. I joined up on a mission to it awhile ago. It was nice from what I recall... which isn't that much honestly. I mostly just remember the cool laser gun I found there. And the garden. Beautiful. But it is very huge and I saw, maybe a few hours worth of it? You're talking about something at least as big as a planet. There must be thousands of different alien things to discover there." Reinholdt tilts his head a little. "Let's just shoot for three or so. Wouldn't want to overstay our welcome and all that." You gotta discover things a little at a time instead of all at once! Mostly cause Rein's pretty sure any more than that might fry poor Sylvia's brain.

"How l-long ago did y-you land?" Sylvia asks SEBI, curious about just how old this UFO and dyson sphere thingy alike might be.

Her ears perk as Reinholdt describes his brief experiences there. "I-I would love t-to see the gardens," she says, somehow brushing right past the cool laser gun. "Th-though, u-um, asides from plants i-is there... anything else s-still living th-there?" The mention of alien things seemed to have set off another bout of nervousness. In fact, given that Sylvia had barely ever left Inside before and was now speeding impossibly fast through the cosmos it's a miracle she hadn't fainted. Truth be told, it had all happened so quickly that it hadn't really truly dawned on her yet. "... Three s-sounds good," she affirms, a little meekly in self-awareness.

She keeps reaching unconsciously for her book and pencil only to remember that neither were here. "Um, SEBI, d-do you h-happen to have pencil and p-paper onboard, o-or, is th-that, um, n-not something you h-have." She asks, rather hopefully, though expecting a no. She couldn't imagine an advanced UFO would have much use for either.

"Approximately 7.9 standard Orthsprid Millenia ago." SEBI explains. Reinholdt can be seen attempting to surreptitiously count on his fingers, but stops when he realizes he wasn't getting away with it.

He places his hands behind his back and rocks in place as he considers Sylvia's question. "I... think there was some innocuous critter that got away... and maybe we were shot at? I don't remember. It's not like getting shot at is abnormal or anything." What's life without a little bullet hell?

"If there are flowers, there's probably something that eats flowers. And then something that eats that. That's generally my thought process on the matter. But I'd just be guessing." Reinholdt shrugs a little.

"Pencil and paper were deemed wasteful forms of communication and phased out of society many eons ago. If, however, you require them, I can have them synthesized for you. Please check the compartment to your left for your materials." SEBI informs Sylvia. "Arriving at designated location. Slowing and initiating docking procedures." The screen does indeed show the ship slowing down before a massive spherical structure, with just a gap here or there shining bright red to hint at the sun behind the encapsulating monstrosity. It looks big to begin with and only gets bigger as they get nearer and nearer.

Orthsprid Millenia probably meant something to some people, but Sylvia was not one of those people. She just blinked, seemingly giving up on learning more about the dyson sphere.

"W-wait, what do you m-mean, you g-got shot at!? You th-think that's... no, no, that's n-not normal! Are we- we're not g-going to get shot at, are we!?" Sylvia would really not like to be shot at. She was doing her very best to not think about being shot at or being eaten by the alien thats eats the alien that eats the flowers, but she was obviously doing a bad job.

The bunnygirl sighs in relief when SEBI provides the drawing materials she asks for, but then the dyson sphere comes into view and she promptly forgets about them. After a long moment of silent shock, she stammers out, "W-wow, that, y-you w-weren't kidding, it's- h-how does anyone b-build something that b-big!?"

"Nooooooo...oooo??" Reinholdt sounds so confident at first but that quickly fades to a soft maybe. He tries to put his hand on her shoulder. "Hey, hey. I promise you won't get shot. I'll guard that perfect body of yours with my life." Rein gives her an encouraging smile.
...
They may still get shot at though. No promises there.

"Some Dyson Spheres require multiple generations to complete, depending on the technological and resource level of the civilizations involved in the construction." And some get copy pasted into place, but that level of tech is beyond what even SEBI can consider.

The ship shakes very suddenly and sharply as they physically connect to the Dyson Sphere. "Docking complete. Systems nominal. Air pressure nominal. Temperature levels nominal. Air composition nominal. You are safe to disembark."

[Knil's Crossfire Training]

Once famous for creating master crossbowmen, a copyright suit forced this firing range to modernize as best it could to suit the Nexus' tendency to yo-yo between past and future. Courses and activities are truly only limited to the imagination. But instead, the sheer number of elves drinking wine, smashing the bottles on their heads and shooting longbows at unmoving dwarven targets is staggering.

Rein steers clear of them to go for a more modern approach, unless there are protests. He'll find a half-decent booth with moving targets, civilian targets to not shoot at, and guns for rent if necessary.

Knil's Crossfire Training

Aran has been in good spirits the whole trip here, though since he didn't ever get food at Trog's he did have to stop for snacks on the way here. He realized that really, it's not like anyone in this city even knows him so who cares what Ukry makes him look like? He might as well play along and make them happy. After that he found it shockingly easy to slip into character. And he's a bear in the autumn so well, he's rather hungry.

Ukry might have slimmed down the now-unkempt bear by ten pounds but he's still a very large bear so he does his best to keep to his own side of the booth so he doesn't get in the way of the other two.
"So! What have we got? Gonna have to be something big to fit in these mitts." he chuckles, waving his paws.

[Knil's Crossfire Training]

Ukry pauses and looks around the firing range, their eyes drifting from figure to figure. There is occasionally a linger on a particularly good archer, or a particularly cute elf, with the kind of hungry stare that contemplates them like a slab of meat in a convenience store, rather than an actual individual. Still, they manage to drag their eyes away from considering delicacy or clothing, and rest them on the pair adjoining the witch as the group moves into the booth. There is a smile, gently, and a nod, before the witch rests down in a chair. "You both can go first."

The witch calmly pulls their fingers through the air, multicolored threads coalescing into form, which they wind and wrap and bind together, the witch seeming to ready her own weapon. There is a calmness to the action, as burnished brass and elegant damascene goldwork weave into view. The weapon is simple, but elegant; a single bore chambered in something small, but very fast; hinge locking with a focus on sophistication over modern design. Once it is fully in view, it seems something between antique and a contender, with a flowing and natural form that seems comfortable to hold. With one shot at a time, and such delicate stylization, it's a clear target pistol; flowing over the sides and grips in the damascene patterns are imagery of witching scenes and runework. Finishing, the witch looks up to see if the boys have managed to get their arms together, all while setting a small box of bullets on a shelf for ease of gathering.

"Uhhh... okay. Th-thanks." Sylvia mumbles, before realizing what Rein had said and turning several shades of red deeper. His tone did not inspire confidence but his little gesture was surprisingly reassuring, and Sylvia found herself leaning ever so slightly closer.

So very long, then, to build one of these things. Though she had almost expected longer. I guess if you were a hyper-advanced society construction times got rapidly shorter.

A small gasp escapes her lips as they come to an abrupt halt, her taken by surprise at the sudden jerky shake, and she briefly clung to Rein. Once everything was steady again, she lets go with a blush, and shyly walked over to collect the paper and pencil she ordered. She turns, looks, at the door, and freezes. "I'm... n-not sure I'm r-ready..." she admits, staring at the way out with some worry. The spaceship seemed so much safer by comparison than yet another unknown. She had barely ever left her room until today!

[Knil's Crossfire Training]

"I don't know... umm..." Reinholdt glances around for what the hell a bear's supposed to use. Even Rein's old cat form had weapons specially custom made for his size and shape. He finally gives up and just rents a throwing axe that will magically return in an instant a second after landing. "Here. Try this." Even a bear can throw an axe, right? Rein guesses. Should be able to throw it often enough. Aran can come up with another solution if he doesn't want to be an axe throwing bear!

Reinholdt himself frowns as he looks over the options before settling on a simple Barrett M95. He hefts it a few times and glances through the sight with one eye. "Oh I won't be surprised. I've only practice on and off ever since I gave up my Godkiller and split it into pieces." Rein chambers a round with a nostalgic sigh. "Different life, Different wife."

Glancing at Ukry, he nods at her weapon. "That's a beautiful piece. A gift, or make it yourself?" Rein asks as he gets set up. The course starts simply enough, a round of targets popping up or out or down to get shot at and provide electronic feedback on accuracy on the nearby screen. Rein's clearly shaky at first, but familiar feelings start to come back and he comes away with a decent 91/100 overall for the first stage.

Reinholdt holds Sylvia steady when they come to a halt. Mostly to keep himself steady in return, but the brief contact was nice.

Seems like everything is moving along well enough! Sylvia even has a fresh sketch pad and she seems to be considerably less embarrassed about her outfit- oh no wait, she's getting cold paws. Reinholdt frowns a little at the bunny who would rather stay in here and sit on the ergonomically disastrous chairs.

"Well if you want to miss out on exciting and beautiful alien cultures that are unforgettable and breathtaking, we could make out if you'd like to instead. Equally unforgettable and breathtaking. Win win really." Sylvia may feel otherwise.

Knil's Crossfire Training

Aran does have hands with thumbs to hold a gun as a giant bearman. Just...they're awfully big, paw-like hands. And this shooting range used predominately by elves isn't going to have size XXL rifle grips.

Aran shrugs and takes the axe, not wanting to complain. However, a problem presents itself very quickly as his turn comes up. Namely, the moment Aran throws the axe it hits the target and shatters it entirely in an explosion of sparks. It seems between his storm-magic and super strength normal targets simply can't handle the punishment.
"Oh, dear." he mumbles.
