Skyside Prime

Post by AshenAmbrosia »

A bustling trade city famously situated atop a high-tech array of anti-gravity generators that give the flying city its name, Skyside has seen better days. Once a booming, futuristic metropolis with a strict legal system and formidable high tech economy, the collapse of Skyside's monarchy in the wake of a series of anti-corporate reforms has blown the city's political system into a state of literal anarchy. A plague of change and opportunity has infected the city at all levels, from the nobles and other persons of substance jockeying to to fill the political void left by the collapse of the old system, to new immigrants attracted by Skyside's new lack of taxes or restriction. The markets of Skyside's Tempest Row, once tightly regulated, are now open to all kinds of vice and debauchery unseen in the more stable cities of the Nexus, including a growing slave market.

While the forces of the remaining nobility, corporate security, and the presence of the Royal Guard generally stops widespread fighting in the streets before it gets too out of hand, violence on a smaller scale is still common, and people who cannot protect themselves (or hire others to protect them) are often beaten, killed or kidnapped to be used in experiments or sold into slavery for those with lower standards.

In general, visitors and residents of Skyside learn to stay on their toes pretty quickly. Even the safest and most affluent areas of Skyside are vulnerable to some amateur mad scientist's latest giant robot or genetic abomination running loose and causing havoc, or a temporal anomaly rolling through and causing a street full of people to suddenly age several weeks in the space of a few seconds. The city can be chaotic, and often times dangerous, but there is potential for great wealth here, if someone has a talent for spotting opportunity and grabbing it. Whether with their own hands or the remotely controlled mecha hands that they designed in their attic is highly dependent on the person, of course.

MAIN DISTRICTS

OLD SKYSIDE/THE RAINDROP DISTRICT

The historic city nearest to Skyside's Sky Palace Tower, what's come to be known as the "Raindrop District" by newer generations of Skysiders is a place of incredible change.

The older estates, temples and monuments, abandoned by all but the most stubborn of Skyside's old order, are being demolished, replaced by new residential growth of various types, from the absolutely dismal to the actually-pretty-nice. Some of the more novel developments in housing include ad-sponsored houses, and other low-cost developments for moderate quality housing. In between the housing developments come all the small businesses you'd expect from Skyside's fastest-growing residential sector, including corner stores, fast food, laundromats, and all the other handy spots that let people get everything they need without having to travel far.

The Raindrop District is relatively safe by day, especially in the parts of the town still held on to by the old Skyside elites, nearer to the Palace Tower, but generally is more dangerous at night. Especially in the more ramshackle parts of the Raindrop District, the back alleys tend to be frequented by muggers and the like, and break-ins are very common during the day when the occupants are likely out working. The wise Raindrop District inhabitant keeps good locks and a trusty firearm close at hand, at the very least, and some shell out for more, opting to rely on protection from mercenary and security firms that provide added safety... for a price.

THE CLOUDTOPS

The wealthiest and most glamorous section of Skyside, the Cloudtops form the new fortress of Skyside's new elites: an incredibly tall, shiny fortress, dominated by tall skyscrapers of glass and steel, covered in bright lights and connected by paved roads and elevated walkways galore.

The Cloudtops is home to Skyside's richest residents, and Skyside's biggest businesses and corporations. The Cloudtops is also Skyside's safest district, kept such by the forces of countless taskforces of well-equipped private security teams.

TEMPEST ROW

Depending on who you ask, Tempest Row is either a vibrant, colorful area full of exotic wares and noisy taverns where ale flows freely, and the barmaids are very accommodating; or a raging, screaming drunk who will drag you into a back alley, beat you over the head with a stick, and run off with your valuables. Or both at once.

Housing the main airship docks and largest spaceport zone, Tempest Row is the nickname for the bustling market and entertainment district of Skyside. With the constant traffic in and out of the city, Tempest Row is home to countless taverns, bars, clubs, and brothels of various sorts, providing boisterous and often debauched entertainment for Skyside's visitors.

With its large crowds and large numbers of shop guards, Tempest Row is relatively safe from violence, though the odd scientific anomaly or experiment-got-loose may amble through occasionally. Visitors in Tempest Row should instead keep a closer watch on their valuables rather than their safety, keeping a close eye out for the pickpockets, scam-artists, and cutpurses of various sorts walking through the crowds, looking for easy money; or the gangs of street toughs roaming the back alleys, waiting for someone too drunk to put up a good fight to stumble along.

THUNDERHEAD

The constant black smoke belching from the sprawling jumble of towering smokestacks and open smelting furnaces gives this area its name among the locals. Thunderhead is the main industrial area of Skyside, filled with factories, smelteries, warehouseries, and a whole array of other varied monuments to urban squalor. Everything from airship construction to weapons manufacture takes place here, and accidents can sometimes happen, especially with the more unscrupulous employers who care little about what happens to their factory workers, whether they be paid workers, slaves, robots or the mutated fishmen your mad scientist donor kindly granted you.

Thunderhead is among the most dangerous of the districts, with vicious gangs and supervillains hiding out in the mysteriously abandoned warehouses (seriously, Skyside is short on space, why are all there all these abandoned warehouses?), and gangs frequently forming among the poorest of Skyside's communities: the underpaid factory workers and industrial chattel that fill row upon row of unmaintained tenement housing and ruined apartments. Most good factories have guards to protect their workers (or keep them from escaping), but among the houses of the working poor, the streets can turn into a danger zone at any point, with very few people willing to stick around and bear witness.

GROUNDTOWN

For those who couldn't get onto Skyside proper, one can always live in its shadow. While Skyside once was a mobile city, moving place to place for safety and resources, since its collapse it has remained stationary, allowing secondary development under and around the city. Located directly under and around the floating city, Groundtown is a small, but growing settlement of improvised buildings and pre-fab housing blocks, populated largely by Skyside's poorest and most unfortunate workers, poorer even than Thunderhead's inhabitants, commuting morning and evening to the city above by way of hanging hover-lifts and small flying skiffs.

Located outside even Skyside's limited bubble of security and order, and utterly ignored by the Royal Guard, Groundtown can be truly hellish at times. Fighting on the streets between warring gangs is an all too common sight, and even the heaviest of personal weaponry cannot always guarantee personal safety. Residents of Groundtown lock their valuables up tight and keep their gun under their pillow, and visitors should always keep their eyes peeled for thieves and muggers. What little safety can be had in Groundtown comes from the powerful gangs who do their best to control the disorder within their own territory, and the superpowered and/or costumed vigilantes who can be found patrolling nightly, unwilling to let Groundtown fall apart and be consumed by darkness.

Reinholdt meows, the cat obviously pleased with himself as only a cat can be. The promise of fish helps, and certainly elicits more meows from the scrawny, scruffy, dirty cat. Rose might want to go to the vet for some shots, who knows what diseases Rein is carrying.

The cat can't ignore Rufus either, going to crawl between his legs, purring, brushing up against the barely cognizant dogman. A probable trip murder attempt.

But a cute one.
[Extraction Plan: CD]

The trip, but not the murder, is quite successful, and soon Rein will find himself triumphantly standing over the unconscious dogman, who was already only semi-lucid thanks to the I Can't Believe It's Not Chloroform.

Leaving Bebe to do all the work herself, naturally.

After a few minutes of preparation, which involve slapping some handcuffs on Rose, petting Rein, waking Rufus up so he can walk on his own, petting Rein, waking Rose up so she can walk, and petting Rein, the patrol (plus new pet and prisoner) make their way back into the warehouse.

Klaus runs his finger down the document in his hand as he reads through it, glancing up at the SINner who brought it to him. "...This doesn't seem to be complete." He mutters, clapping the folder shut. "I suspect a few of our members may have forgotten to add their contributions to our file on Dr. Master."

That one might be on him. A side effect of that compound he keeps using; it tends to make the subject a bit airheaded.

Klaus shoves a clipboard into his subordinate's hands. "Here's a list of the people I've had on Master Watch duty over the past month. Round them up and tell them to meet me in my office. We've waited long enough."

His expression softens slightly as the patrol returns. "Well, now, who's this?" He chortles, looking the group over.

Pets are great, but where's the food?! Bebe gets so many insistent meows and head nuzzles. Why isn't this working?! Rein could cry. He doesn't, just meekly follows her instead, growing quiet, mostly just tired of meowing and just getting headpats for it.

And... wow. Dang, there was the guy! That's the guy Rein had to kidnap for his own good, no really! Rein didn't expect him to be found for days, or even weeks. At least wait until Rein's had a decent meal! This good turn of events might actually backfire if he's too weak to follow through on the kidnapping portion of the plan.

Well, for now, he's just going to keep up appearances, largely by sniffing around this new area, looking for food. Sniff sniff, prowl, freeze, sniff.

The yellow microcar driven by Miss Kitty, the only known assistant to Doctor Master, has an annoying tendency to disappear. Nothing weird about it, just a relatively common car driving faster than people can walk, especially down alleyways and narrow footpaths where larger vehicles can't follow. Nevertheless, it tends to disappear in the same area of workshops and small warehouses, and there's only about a hundred square metres for Doctor Master's front door to be located. Nobody has sighted Doctor Master yet, but keeping track of his slavery cycle of buying and selling in a few days time he's going to get a visit from the Guild, who will sell some healthy young humans and buy some healthy young amnesiac animal-people.

Klaus frowns as this information is relayed to him, and for a moment, his frustration is palpable; the room tenses as he recieves several variations on "we can't track her very well". "So what you're telling me is that there really isn't any more information available." He grouses, setting the file aside. A vague idea of where their target's lab might be is hardly any basis for an operation. Incompetent idiots! Were none of them willing to pry any further than that?

...No. Of course not.

Klaus straightens his tie and steps towards the stairs. "I see." He says finally. "Fifi, Magoo, to my office. The rest of you, as you were."

Fortunately for Rein, "as you were" for Bebe was going to get him some fish. She'll carry the small cat into a large, battered kitchen, set him on the table, and place a pair of bowls in front of him; one already filled with water, the other momentarily empty. That will change as she goes about retrieving a tupperware box full of salmon from the fridge and popping it into the microwave, putting just another fifteen seconds between Rein and a meal. At least there are scritches in that time.

Awww... Rein would love to get in that office and listen to what's going on. He'll just have to guess and extrapolate later when they come back out.

Right now, foood, yes food. Fooooood. MEOW MEOW MEOWMEOW!!

He's got to wait fifteen seconds?! This is torture. AGONY. Why hasn't the Nexus invented instant cooked fish yet?! When Reinholdt gets back to HALO he's going to reassign every available scientist and technician and mage and fourth tower person and Felandria onto working on creating instant cooked fish for the mass-
Ding!

MEOWMEOW! Rein digs in like he was some sort of starving kitty or something, eating the offered food voraciously.

As mentioned, the Slaver's Guild is known to be making a visit to Doctor Master in a few days time; the day after tomorrow. They are also far easier to follow than Miss Kitty is. It's unfortunate they won't have warning before hand, though.

Magoo and Fifi will go to Klaus' office, a brindle-haired mongoose girl and a tabby catgirl wearing matching uniforms. Fifi had been sat with Samantha the blind squirrelgirl, helping her learn how to read braille.

"Hungry little guy, arentcha?" Bebe continues to offer Rein back-scritches as he eats, apparently oblivious to how distracting that will be.

Fortunately for Rein, she's very quickly called away to do other things, leaving him unattended to do as he wishes. The warehouse is quite easy to navigate and open in its design, so Rein won't have much difficulty finding anything... except maybe privacy. The kitchen seems to be a converted utility room of some sort, one of two emclosed spaces separated from the rest of the building, the other being the records room that now serves as Klaus's office (which is also locked, once Magoo and Fifi are inside). The central room is a hub of activity, filled with a number of workbenches and chairs dedicated to various tasks. One table is occupied by a pair of catgirls busily assembling a stockpile of firearms(? They look more like airsoft guns, really). Another cluster has a number of typewriters and their operators busily typing away, comparing notes and assembling documents in folders. A different one has a blown-up map of Skyside, with various pins and notes stuck onto it, currently unattended. Farther back, the workbenches give way to a number of neatly-made beds and a few upright sleeping pods, a small number of which are occupied. And finally, in the corner, a pair of holosystems has been set up, one running some sort of combat simulation, while the other serves as the medium for a card tournament of some kind.

Or Rein can just keep eating.

Less fortunately, Klaus doesn't yet have an in for going into Doctor Master's lab; the girls are both obvious creations of his and are unlikely to be able to sneak back in without arousing suspicions. He'll have to get a little creative if he wants to sneak something, or someone, inside. And he'll need to do it without disturbing the politics of the Guild, or at least without calling attention to himself.

Quite the tall order. But for now, he has a much simpler one on his mind.

"Would either of you ladies care for a drink?" Klaus offers, going through the by-now-familiar motions of pouring them both a glass of cola each.

Food absolutely comes first most, second most, and third most. Rein only stops because he doesn't want to go too fast and throw it all up. Whose dumb idea was it to starve him for a week? He's never doing that again, ever. Next time he'll just get in some street fight or something. Maybe lose an ear or an eye or something, yeesh.

When he finally does get around to slinking around the edges of the room there's a lot more going on in here than he thought there would be. Oh heck, there's even a card holo tournament. That Nexus plotline never got resolved and Rein even went down to one star chip in a gambit that was sure to be successful. Fond memories. But for now, Rein's focus is on getting a general map of the area to report to Ambrosia later as well as sitting near the office and seeing how well he can listen in to the briefing that's going on in there. He has good cat hearing, better than most, but he also can't just sit at the door. He has to sit next to the door, looking up at it, clearly waiting for someone to open it so he can decide whether to go inside or not. He doesn't meow about it at least.

Extraction Plan: CD

Both Fifi and Magoo nod and accept a glass of cola, though Fifi would prefer water, if available. Fifi keeps glancing back at the door, worried about her friend, even if she knows nobody here would harm Samantha.

Neither would also be much help directly infiltrating Doctor Master's operation since Miss Kitty sold Magoo herself and recognised Fifi's name and gave a brief description to Klaus when Magoo was bought- not that Magoo knows that was Klaus. She still sometimes has nightmares about the man who bought her, whose clutches she narrowly escaped.

General Event

Throughout Skyside, anyone known to have a large number of robots or to use robotic labour is going to be attacked. The Road Pirates, primarily a biker gang, apparently have a grudge against known roboticists and are making it known by pounding any robot they can find to scrap, beating up their operators, and firebombing anywhere with a close and publicly known link to robots of any kind.

yaaaaaaaaaaallll

It's not obvious at first that there are, in fact, other cats here. There are plenty of places for them to hide, nap, enter or exit the building, and so on. But, even so, it was somewhat inevitable that Rein would meet the other feline tenants of the building at some point.

Like that one, there. The one with the arched back, annoyed snarl and tail fluffed out like a bottlebrush, glaring at Rein accusingly, making three implicit demands. Who is this strange tomcat? Who does he think he is? And why does he smell like her salmon?

Klaus gives his head a little bap, making an "of course, how silly of me" gesture for Fifi's benefit, before pouring a glass for her. She might note that he already had a decanter of ice water ready to go, implying he expected this answer.

"Now, then." Klaus begins, taking a sip of the other glass of cola and shuffling some papers in front of him, stalling until he can be certain they've both had a drink. "As you can plainly see, we are little closer to finding this Doctor Master than we were when you two first came on board. And considering the space between you, that should tell you all you need to know about the consistency of this lack of progress. I trust I don't need to explain to you what this implies about the effectiveness of our current, conventional methods." He stands and begins pacing around the room, the clop-clop of his shoes against the hard concrete floor slightly obfuscating his words. "Which in turn implies it is time to look into methods less-than-conventional." His fingers drum against the surface of his desk as he walks past it. "How much do you ladies remember about being captives of the Guild?"

Of course! Rein's plan was so ingenious that he didn't even consider that other felines would have thought of it first. Admittedly, he thought he'd have to woo his way into the safehouse over time. He should have suspected something was up as soon as he was brought in and food was readily available. His focus was admittedly distracted by said food, but still. All the signs were there.

That's ok. When encountering opposition, the important Rein maneuver to remember- second only to running away- is become totally submissive. His ears flatten, he looks away, and finally flops over onto his side. This clearly means he's a freeloader who stole her salmon, but it can't be helped now. It's in his belly. He won't do it again (when she's looking).

"A fair bit. They had me for about two weeks." Fifi replies first.
"Nothing. The Guild never had me- I went straight from Miss Kitty to the guy you rescued me from." Magoo is unaware she was rescued from Klaus by Klaus. Neither does Fifi, unless Klaus would tell them of his deception and cover identity, since the Guild knows of it and are working with him.
"Not the route I got there, though. Sammi might know more, she saw me arrive and watched Doctor Master flash my eyes with his memory-wiper." Although Samantha wouldn't know where Doctor Master arrived from, she is at least a witness to the weirdo's memory technology without being a victim to it. "They kept me caged in a warehouse for a bit, made sure I was healthy, fed me, took me out to exercise and then shipped me out to somewhere, which you interrupted." Fifi could lead Klaus around part of the warehouse, although Klaus has been inside it too and probably saw more of it as he wasn't locked up at the time.

[Arkant Factory]

Even tought the Arkant Company has their own ports for aircrafts, to deliver raw materials or getting the good to some of the Arkant shops in the other cities, visitor will have to go through the common way.

Thought Sekhmet will sure get a ride by one of Arkants bodyguards to guarantee her safty. Which means a very bulky guy comes with a transporter to catch her up. he will excuse the strange ride, but they couldn't get another rde to match his proportions. The man also seems to wear a gas mask all time, but she isn't here to ask him about his life story or is she?

Either way on her way she will be able to see through windows how Skyside is. People barly walk on the streets in fear. Mostly you see guarded people or punks who look like they own the place.

That changes as soon as she comes into the territory of Arkant. Guards with a look of neighberhood security are present on the streets. They seem to cover a certain area to guarantee safty and people around here seem more fearless then others. The area appears to go wide as they first pass through a housing district. It seems a lot of people from his company live here. It's hard to see how people live here, but she might guess that they at least have a house to return to..

After that follows directly the industrial district and it seems to be extremly busy. People walking from and to work, goods transported from one wearhouse to another. Business seems to boom and the worker seem to have all they need regarding tools and machinery.

Sekhmet might ask questions by this point already. The bodyguards seems to be the only one to ask for now unless she waits for the end of the ride to meet arkant in a small building that seems to be like some kind of doctor surgery

Arkant Factory
Sekhmet is dressed relatively simply, but she does wear her circlet.
She's familiar with Skyside's poverty, but Arkant's area is something she hasn't seen before. On the surface, at least, it looks much better. But she's used to things not being what they seem.

The bodyguard doesn't seem like the sort to answer questions, so she stays silent for now, until she arrives for the meeting.
The surgery is not what she expected. Arkant had talked about offices and normal work, this, here at least, is something different. She greets her host curiously.

Speaking of his belly.

The cat yowls and takes a swipe at it, though even if he doesn't move she won't actually make contact. But the claws out and the angry hiss should make her message quite clear. She doesn't want him to submit. She wants him to leave. It's her territory and Rein is about as far from a sanctioned visitor as they come.

She stands ready with an arched back and teeth bared for his response. And if she doesn't like what he has to say, a chase or a fight is likely to ensue.

Fortunately for them both, Klaus isn't interested in intel.

"Good. So I can expect you both to keep a level head in there." He replies calmly, unlocking a drawer on his desk. "You two have been some of my best agents. My right hand, as it were. But now may be time for a left." He sits back in his chair and looks them both over scrutinously. "...I can have it arranged for you to get inside the Guild. Undercover. Part of an extended operation to undermine their assets here in Skyside and elsewhere."

Reinholdt scurries to his feet just in time to avoid an evisceration and loudly hisses back at this female cat. There are plenty of other cats here! She hasn't chased any of them off!

Well Rein can't leave. He needs to be right near this office to listen in on whatever they're yammering about. So his fur rises and his fangs bare in a growl. He can take her! He'll do it if he has to.
Hissssssss.
Though admittedly, if she actually comes at him, he's going to turn and run instead. He doesn't need open stomach surgery today.

"I escaped- with your help- on the Guild's watch. They know I escaped. If they have any records of that, I'd be punished, I think. Or less trusted. Magoo doesn't have that, since she didn't make it that far. That creep bought her before she was sold to the Guild, they won't have records of it. You want us to go on the inside, right? We can't guarantee we'd stay together." Fifi's caught on to what she thinks Klaus wants, that Klaus is going to find a way to get them into the Guild as slaves. Fifi trusts Klaus to get her out again, if he can, and she's reasonably sure he can do it, but... it's still a risk. She may very well be sold to the television studio and turned into a gladiator, or something.

Magoo doesn't say anything, but she's nervous all the same. She trusts Klaus, maybe too much.

"Diva! No! Bad kitty!"

Reinholdt's newfound get-out-of-a-savage-clawing-free card scoops up the indignant cat, massaging her behind the ears as she yowls out a protest at this luxurious but ill-timed treatment.

"If I've told you once, I've told you a hundred times!" Bebe scolds, in a babyish voice that probably muddles her message somewhat. "You have to play nice with the other kitties! Mama loves them, too, doesn't she?"

The cat continues to glare at Reinholdt, tail thrashing back and forth in the ratgirl's arms. All right, fine. Rein gets to live for now. But the second she's free again, that tom's getting a whooping.

...Turns out that's a lot sooner than either of them expects. As Bebe turns to walk away, she trips on a poorly-placed toolbox, pivoting as she tumbles to the floor. The cat in her arms leaps to safety in the process, and since she's free now, might as well chase down that insolent intruder.

"I don't intend for you to." Klaus replies, swirling his cup idly. "You will be going wherever the Guild assigns you, doing as they ask of you. They've had a shortage of enforcers lately, and the two of you would fit the role quite well." He leans back in his chair and pulls out a pair of folders from his desk, handing them out to each of the women. "As far as infiltration jobs go, this one will be exceedingly simple. Walk up, present your papers, tell them Quire sent you. You don't need a cover story of any sort. If they ask you any further questions, answer them honestly. If they give you orders, you are to follow them. If they attempt to detain you, offer no resistance. You are to make them believe you are cooperating fully."

Phew. What a good rat, this Bebe. Reinholdt calmly sits and smirks as Diva is taken away to cat jail. Hah! Take that you overprotective dull-clawed ill groome-

H-hey! Bebe! Please, you had one job!

Diva, Diva, now we know Rein didn't actually mean to imply all those things about- Ok. That's not what we call listening. Well, that's ok, Rein's equally done talking. He's more concerned with running. Rein is exceptionally good at running away. He even knows how to find one particular corner underneath that cabinet that's all be unassailable once he's boxed in there tight and hissing and clawing at any cat that comes too close. You can't force him to leave if you can't even approach him Diva!

"O-oh. Um, OK. I... think I can do that." Magoo gulps; despite what she says, she's not sure she's enforcer material. Still, not all grunts are enforcers, and a medic would likely be appreciated regardless.
"Will you be able to get us out if anything goes wrong? Or will we be on our own?" Fifi glances meaningfully at Magoo at that point; the meerkatgirl is still quite traumatised from her near-miss as a slave, and Fifi doesn't trust her to hold up to interrogation or torture.

Dull-clawed and ill-groomed? Now that's just hurtful.

Not to mention false.

As is clearly demonstrated when Diva gives chase. While Rein's certainly fast, he's also still recovering from a week's malnutrition, a problem his counterpart doesn’t seem to have. Should she overtake him, she'll show him just how "dull-clawed" she is, with a leaping pounce at his rum-

tonk!

Oh. Right. Cabinet.

The territorial she-cat backs away from the cabinet, arching her back and glaring back at Rein, hissing angrilly.

For a moment, before it occurs to her that he's essentially trapped himself down there. All she has to do is wait for him to get out into the open again, at which point she can resume scratching the daylights out of him.

In the meantime, she can work on her manicure.

"Trivially. I already pulled you out once, and the Guild won't be interested in losing more personnel by making me do it again. About the worst outcome you can expect is that they will simply reject you. Anything further risks provocation." Klaus turns his attention to Magoo. "But, again, once you're in, you'll be doing a lot of dirty work. You'll have to be able to look at cages full of people, whose situation you were in yourselves not so long ago, and respond to any attempts at escape or resistance with brutality, and without any hesitation. To say nothing of the fact that your fellows here at SIN are not going to know why you're doing what you're doing, and are likely to attack you." He lowers his voice and continues. "There's no shame if you find yourself unable to handle that. If you feel any doubts about this mission, any at all, speak up, and we can forget we ever had this conversation."

"Good day Miss Sekhmet." Arkant greets her. He looks much like on the party just wearing a labcoat for now instead of the suitlike coat.

"I hope you had a good journey. I know the streets are dangerouse if you take the wrong turn. I hope my bodyguard was able to keep you company. Do you need anything?"

[Arkant Factory]

Arkant is a bit confused about her attitude. He thought she is a lot more chatty and less strict. At last her actions on the party suggested that. Well no harm in that.

"Good. Let's start. Maybe a short word to this place. I started offering surgery to earn some money, but things grew faster then expected. I now use this building mainly for my main office. But let's go to the first factory. Schall we?"

The streets Outside is still as busy as before. people running around workers going off an on work as well as materials gettin transported. Just one thing is different, every worker who crosses Arknt greets him in a friendly manner. Sekhmet might notice that there is no fear of them unless those worker have obviously taking a longer break then allowed.

The first factory seems to be a big hall with lots f conveyer belts going throught. people pick up the resource and put them together. The workplace is kinda clean. There isn't any trash or rundown chairs around, but also those workplaces aren't perfectly workerfriendly.

"Here we put together some of our best sellers, calculators, toasters for example. This is kind of the low level workplace as it requires no special skills."

Sekhmet observes with interest. "What prompted you to change from surgery to household goods?" She doesn't think menial labor would be very appealing to her subjects, but she keeps that to herself for now.
(She doesn't know nearly enough about workplace safety to realize that this isn't safe, so long as there are no accidents while she's watching)

It doesn't take long for Rein's plan to come to fruition. Both cats are faster than the ratgirl, but standing still as they are, the lead they established is gone almost as quickly as it came.

At which point Diva hops up onto the cabinet, out of sight. And for a brief moment, Rein has a clear shot at escape.

For a moment.

After that moment, a toolbox comes crashing down in front of the cabinet, blocking the corner off from immediate escape. While it's not too heavy, it's landed at a bit of an awkward angle, which makes it difficult to move from below the cabinet.

"Diva! No! Bad kitty! Get back here! Diva!"

His smile turns slightly more rueful. "But, if you have learned anything in this line of work, you know I can't take you at your word."

Which is when he pulls the pistol out of his coat and shoots for Magoo's leg.

Rein is predicting Diva is setting a trap for him by disappearing, planning on him coming out and catching him unawares. He's not going to fall for it!

He doesn't predict that the trap comes next. The cat starts when the toolbox comes down. That devious little Diva. She's kinda hot. But right now, she's really getting in the way of his mission. It's a good thing it's a longer term one that doesn't have to be accomplished today. Though the sooner the better.

Right now, Rein just has to push a toolbox out of the way! And... push... ugh... this thing's heavy. RRRRRNNNGH! Ok. Sure, Rein's always had strength as his dump stat, but no one's ever actually used it against him before! This is extremely and totally unfair. He may be able to use tools to leverage the toolbox out of the way, but that would give him away so quickly if anyone spotted a cat using a makeshift lever.

Well... he's just going to have to give the most pitiful, helpless meows he can muster. The kind that distresses humans that can't find the source. And keep at it for at least a few minutes.
